No it's personal issues that's the FF rumour ?
It was the same source who stated Rooney was coming back!
Wasn't the same thing said about why Rooney left?

It's inconceivable Everton will retain him. A fee of £25M will be well in excess of any tribunal fee next season and it will avoid the constant "wtf is happening to Barkley" stories that will dog the club. And the fee will be needed to square the accounts if we buy more players, which seems likely. At the minute there's not a bid on the table from anyone.
Assuming that changes, then there'll no doubt be a couple who think they could maybe steal him for a fee that would make him a no risk gamble, as the window ticks down. At what level would we be tempted to say sod it and keep him on the books for a further year? dunno.
Would we be eligible for compo next summer if he walked on a free or would he be too old for us to qualify for it, as he's 24 mid season?
He's not going to Newcastle. He's off to a CL club or Arsenal.I agree, i can't see Chelsea, Utd or City going any where near him .
Surely even Ross can see he will sit on Spurs bench for half the season.
If i were a betting man i'd go for Arsenal, he would probably get more starts there than at Spurs.
An outside shout for me would be Newcastle, newly promoted ( a challenge), the unmentionable manager would put his arm around him and make him his star player.
' big fish in small pond ' would suit Ross down to the ground, im sorry to say.
But he cant be played. Koeman would look like an utter ball bag retaining him and playing him after saying he has no interest in Barkley now and he's concentrating on players ready to stay.I suppose it comes down to how much value to the team he is for one season. If you think his value is nil over the course of the season then we may as well accept £5mill for him. Personally I think if we get offers of less than £15mill he'll stay and the contract will run down. If it's anywhere near £20mill and up he'll go, and that will still be a great bargain for whoever gets him.
To sit on their bench & help fill their home grown player quota. He's not going to Newcastle. He's off to a CL club or Arsenal.

In this market today (the one that Everton seem to have helped create) he'd go for close on £50M if he had three seasons on his contract. The fact that the club will be mugged off is appalling.

Given how proactive we've been in recent years in trying to tie down our existing playing staff to long contracts, I think the blame for that lies with the player, as he's run his contract down. We maybe should have been more proactive and shifted him on last summer, but there'd have been hell on if one of Koemans first moves was to shunt Barkley on.
He is leaving for personal reasons - family being threatened etc. Funnily enough one of those responsible just got arrested at Manny airport yesterday!!
Irrespective of him turning down the contract offer, securing deals for Barry and Baines, before addressing the Barkley contract, showed great naivety on the board's part and undoubtedly will cost the club millions. It's inconceivable Everton will retain him. You cant be serious in that assessment? You must have seen enough of Barkley to know he's way more talented than that lot?Scott Sinclair, Fabian Delph style.
He's also in danger of becoming a David Bentley.

Spot on mate. Mirallas too.Irrespective of him turning down the contract other, securing deals for Barry and Baines, before addressing the Barkley contract, showed great naivety on the board's part and undoubtedly will cost the club millions.
The situation is what it is Dave. There is probably a series of events that prevented contract talks happening early. The ownership change, Martinez and his poor management contributing to RB's dip in form, Martinez getting the sack, RB going away to a European final (to not play) and then Koeman coming in and taking time to assess his new squad. From the looks of it contract talks started Christmas so 5 months into Koemans reign. It should never have gotten to that poiint but we are where we are and that's RB has turned down an incredibly generous offer, especially when you consider how poor he was during Roberto's last two seasons. It's inconceivable Everton will retain him.
