Yep. Then we sell Baines for 15m, have 10m left over of which only 5m is made available for transfers.

We start the season with Oviedo left back, Alcaraz on the bench and Kone challenging for a starting spot, and some other random **** 30 year old 5m player.

Deffo mint moves in the transfer market that by Martinez.

just to counter all the wildly pessimistic speculation, there is an outside chance two similar signings at xmas would have seen tired players rested, tactics varied, a handful of extra goals and a proper challenge for fourth.

You'd think that'd be blindingly obvious wouldn't you?

£5m spent - two players in, strengtheneing two areas of the team.

Seems like very tidy business to me.

Bringing in two players that the manager has previously worked with should see them adapt a lot quicker too; this is particularly beneficial if they are to be used as back up players (see Alcaraz), as they'll be able to slot into the system without needing too much playing time.

E.g. Jags gets injured-> Alcaraz steps in and knows exactly how to play Martinez' system.
 

I honestly cant believe the lack of Kone love, he was the standout for Wigan last year who to be fair won a trophy, yeah i know they got relegated. But i honestly believe people are looking at where he came from rather then have watched him that much, hes a very dangerous player in terms of primary scoring and second phase creating chances way - its a superb bit of buissness tbh.

I suppose if we knew the true cost of Moyes' last-minute loans/freebies, like Straq, Gardener, Neil, etc it may put it in perspective for us a bit.
 
swansea are about to pay £6M for shelvy. Now i dont give a **** about age, that lad is an also ran.

Clubs are gonna pay more this summer due to TV money.
