Jaa is awesome, abnd the first Ong Bak was great. Not as keen on the other two, but still some good action from what I recall.

Have you seen The Raid + Raid 2? If not check them out. The first one is basically non-stop action after the first ten minutes or something.
Yeah incredible action scenes.
Have to add Ipman.
Just finished the two main ones...Donny Yen ?? Wow, he has a really tight style...almost asberges kung fu...totally no emotion but so effective.

...Film Stars Don’t Die in Liverpool. True story of a famous Hollywood star who spent some of her last days in Liverpool. Nostalgic and fascinating if you come from the City but perhaps not if you don’t.

Film stars don't die in liverpool

A very silly film which, nevertheless, is worth a watch if you want something you don't have to try too hard with. A framed cop is released from prison to find that he still enjoys the attentions of the authorities and attractive women. He suffers beatings and wounds from flying glass shards from which he recovers quickly. That little graze on his forehead lasts for the whole movie. Lots of people get shot...

The very lovely and talented Juliette Binoche...

If you would like to see more of her try some earlier stuff, such as
The Unbearable Lightness of Being
The English Patient
Damage
Three Colours: Blue (all the colours are worthwhile, by the way - White with Julie Delpy and Red with Irène Jacob)
Caché

Haha, not sure she would be in the 'Chocolate' film I was thinking of...

Bohemian Rapsody

Superb. Not ashamed to say I had a tear in my eyes a few times throughout. I love getting an insight in to genius, and to that end it was immensely satisfying.

The film could’ve been more hard-hitting re: Freddie’s personal life, but I’m glad it wasn’t because it would’ve overshadowed the biopic of Queen, as was intended.

Really demonstrates how creatively-redundant the modern music industry is, and by contrast, how more creative freedom back in the day resulted in absolutely brilliant, era-defining culture.

Also must mention the recreation of Live Aid/Wembley - truly fantastic.

Highly recommended.

Having watched Outlaw King (Netflix) recently, got into a discussion with my son last night re most historically inaccurate films:

My nominees:
- Braveheart (one critic pointed out that the Battle of Stirling Bridge could have used a bridge in the movie)
- U-571 (could America steal a British achievement more blatantly?)
- Pocahontas (she was 10 when they met)

His thoughts:
- 300 (rounded down from 7,000)
- Pearl Harbor - (what a piece of dung)

Thoughts? Other nominees? Honorable mentions?

Given that some of the lads involved were probably still alive, this has to be the most insulting re-write of history. I mean they are movies so I'm not all that fussed personally but that one was a bit much
