Last Film You Watched

I remember seeing this when it first came out, and it certainly packs a punch. I've heard very good things about Burning, another Korean film that's out the moment, so hope to catch that before it disappears from cinemas.

Just read the reviews for Burning and it sounds very good - will hunt it out to stream.

The Koreans seem unafraid of tackling some stuff head on that the mainstream shys away from

An absolutely outstanding film :

I saw the Devil.

South Korean with English subs.

Dirty Harry meets Death Wish x 10.

One of the best “ revenge “ films I’ve ever seen, plus it turns the genre on its head - don’t want to give away too much !!

Unrelenting in its brutality and one hundred miles an hour all the way.

It@jaycee have you seen this ?

* it’s on Netflix
Yeah seen it a while ago,try out the Wailing thats another good one

Just edited - Netflix.

It’s one of those films that you could easily see Hollywood ruining, by packing it full of stars and toning down the graphic content for the bucket of popcorn brigade.

It’s brilliant.
Like they done to Oldboy, absolutely destroyed that,Im praying they try to remake Ichi the killer

The remake is awful, that and assault on precinct 13 made me want to cry

yeah it was a strange one for Spike Lee to do, at least put Samuel L in the role and do something different with it. not bad on its own, about a 5/10.

the original ye gods...what a masterpiece! Sympathy for Mr Vengeance is decent, i still haven't seen Lady Vengeance or I saw the Devil.

other Koreans i can recommend: Save the Green Planet, I'm a Cyborg but that's ok, Doomsday Book (trilogy of short sci-fi stories).

Paris, Texas

After watching this for the fourth or fifth time, I am pleased to announce it is the greatest film ever made. As is Nastassja Kinski.

Some good recommendations tho. Love a lot of far east cinema, so will defo have to check out some of those Korean films. We should have a separate World Cinema thread I reckon, somewhere to recommend classic and new foreign films.

I just got a Mubi subscription and it's absolutely brilliant.

I'm fairly sure they have the new Jean-Luc Godard, The Image Book? I seem to remember MUBI were really pleased to have secured the rights to it. It's as user-unfriendly as much of his later work, but is completely fascinating. I saw it last year (at the IMAX, of all places) and loved it; great to see the old boy still has the fire in him!

I’ve watched 2 movies this weekend.

The Lego Movie 2 (2019)

Nowhere near as good as the first one.
3/5

Popstar - Never Stop Never Stopping (2016)

Ace. Thought it was going to be turd but laughed hard. A lot.
Any fan of B99 will enjoy.
4/5

Is the first good? I’ve had it recorded to watch for ages now.
