Last Film You Watched

It's really nothing interesting in the cinemas these days, which is a bit frustrating when it seems like The Lighthouse won't even be released theatrically over here.

It's basically just kids movies and a christmas film featuring Emilia Clarke, who can't act whatsoever, to choose from atm. And the new Terminator. No thanks.

Joker, Dr Sleep, Ford v Ferrari, Midway, there’s loads on.

Last night watched By the Grace of God for a second time. It's a terrific French film about the Catholic Church abuse scandal, centring on three very different adult men who take action when they realise the priest that abused them many years ago is still working - and with kids. "The French Spotlight" might be the lazy way to label this one, but it's a great film which should reach as wide an audience as possible. It's still in some cinemas and is also available on Curzon's on-demand service. One of the very best films of 2019, IMHO.

The Interview (not the Seth Rogan one)

Hasn't aged that we'll. Most modern cop dramas are probably better.

Man gets arrested for a crime he purports to know nothing about.

Starts off v pinteresque then you begin to doubt the seemingly innocent interviewee.

Completely forgot about this film. Saw it on its original release while I was living in Australia. I enjoyed it back then, but it sounds like it hasn't stood the test of time.

Isn't The Lighthouse coming out in Jan, or has it been changed and is now headed to VOD? I think Universal have it. Saw a trailer for it just the other day (before Monos). I enjoyed it (though I don't think it's quite the masterpiece many say it is), and I assumed it would get a release at least as wide as The Witch, which they gave quite a push.

Watched "Why him" last night on Film 4.

Not sure if it was cos I was bladderd but me and the wife were howling. Simple stupid humour. Strangely reminded me of a National Lampoons at times.

Really worth a watch (unless it was just the stella)

Not out of choise. GF wanted to go see it this weekend, but have never seen the original (for my sins), and might not have had time to see it before. 'Fortunately' we didn't go anyway.

That has to be a sign from above that you were destined to see it first. :) I think hopefully it will add a bit more depth to new film seeing just what Danny went through at the Overlook Hotel as a child. Although saying that I totally trust @COYBL25 judgement if he says it isn't required.

It isn`t required, but a working knowledge of the Shining deffo helps.

If you haven`t seen the Shining, I`d read up on the plot summary, as it`ll help you understand Dr Sleep better, especially the ending,
