Papillon the remake, there are some films you should not remake this is one of them.

It always seemed like an odd remake. Someone's ego gave them desire to try sully the original classic.

What makes it worse is they could have tweaked it or made it their own. Since the original was made the memoirs it was based on, were called into question and said to be fantasy and not reality.

Yes I did read somewhere it was not all true the story.Some parts happened to other prisoners and Henri Charriere (papillion) took the credit so to speak.

Yep brilliant film but as I said not one to remake, it's a bit like doing a remake of the Shawshank Redemption, just don't do it.
