It's "News of the world".

Even if it was turd I would feel obliged to lie because Tom Hanks.
Mercifully it's a very good watch and Tom Hanks!
Tom Hanks, on Netflix?
Tom bloody Hanks.

Elvira - Mistress Of The Dark (1988)

Goth comedy B-Movie with Carry On sensibilities. Agreeably amusing corny trash - which is exactly what it aims to be.

Fantasy Island (2020)

Movie reboot of the old TV series. Took an absolute kicking from the critics upon release and although it's clearly quite stupid and makes no sense I kind of enjoyed it more than most obviously did. Bit too lengthy and could stand to lose 20 minutes. Well made for a pretty measly $7M budget though.

Khrustalyov, My Car! (1998)

Black and white film following (literally) military-medical service general Yuri Klensky through a meandering range of bizarre scenarios full of odd noises, erratic movements, seemingly nonsensical snippets of conversation and actors directly looking at and interacting with the camera.

I'm can see it's all very impressive but like another Aleksei German film Hard To Be A God it was all a bit too obtuse for me and impossible to do in one sitting. I enjoyed the peculiarity of each scene but it just keeps on at the same pace and becomes too much for my tastes. Makes David Lynch efforts look like absolutely A-B straightforward linear storytelling.

Watched it last night. Good film but the male lead was a right wimp.
Wasn’t too keen on him, not much of a likeable character I wanted to root for, but it’s overall a fine production.

Keeping in with the Scandinavian theme, I’m now watching “Mørke” on the same platform, it’s a Danish film about a disabled lady who appears to commit suicide after her wedding night, but the Brother of the decreased gets suspicious, so does some investigating.

So far I’m enjoying it, as I can see a really good twist coming up.

I have this but have yet to get up the nerve to watch it... Hard To Be a God was defintiely impressive but I found it to be very hard work, in much the same way as I found Faust (2011) to be quite an ordeal. I don't mind a challenge, but those two are something else.

I watched Sins of the Flesh (1974), a spot of Eurosleaze quite typical of its era. I'd never seen it before, and it was OK for that sort of thing, but I can't for the life of me fathom why they put out a 4K UHD disc of this, given how there are so many other, better films crying out for such treatment.

Is there a proper 4k UHD disc of that or is it a 4k transfer of the negative that was worked on before putting it onto BluRay?

As you say it would be very odd to release a proper 4K UHD disc for such a niche release.

If I recall I didn't get to the end of How To Be A God - maybe a little over 2 hours but nowhere near the end. Part of me thinks it's indulgent but a part of me thinks it's the philistine in me.
