I know In Bruges has fairly dark underlying subject matter but that isn’t really the crux of the film, whereas 3 billboards is purely driven by a mother’s grief and there is little distraction from that. Sam Rockwell and Frances McDormand are both high quality actors.

Rockwell is great in seven physcopaths as well. An underrated film that.
 

Just watched deadpool. Again one of those films I never saw on release and only just got round to watching. Started good. Was very clever in parts with the self irony thing. Lame ending.

The Sisters Brothers.

Classy western, with a stellar cast.

Two hired guns ( the Sisters brothers ) are hired to find, torture a chemist, into giving up a chemical formula that shows gold up in rivers and streams.

I’ve read the book and the film follows the book pretty much faithfully.

Really slow and meandering for the first hour and a half, then explodes into life.

Considering Riz Ahmed, who plays the chemist started off as a rapper, he’s not overshadowed by the likes of Phoenix, Reilly and Gyllenhall and is a pretty inspired bit of casting.

He was good in The Night Of.
 

Watched "The War With Grandpa" on prime. Given that it stars Robert De Niro, Uma Thurman, Christopher Walken, Jane Seymour and Cheech Marin I was expecting more. There are flashes of brilliance from Bobby, and a couple of laughs. But a crummy premise, mad cap antics and the fact that most of the cast are under used means I am giving this 2 out of 5
