Last Film You Watched

X-Men Origins - Wolverine

Been watching the X-Men films and found them enjoyable enough but this is a bit of a clunker. It was alright at first but once you get to the second Wolverine fights a mutant for info scene then it's pretty repetitive and and then pretty much falls off a cliff for the final act. The CGI blades look terrible but even they look better than pretty much the entire final act on 3 Mile Island - looks like the matte painting backgrounds they used in the 1920's....but worse, weirdly lit and much more expensive.

Then there's all the fan service shoehorning every young mutant they can into scenes and what looks like a giant rubber dildo in a suit that is actually a digitally de-aged Charles Xavier. None of that is needed - spend that money on fixing the films terrible CGI. Seems like every X-Men film I've seen so far has a scene based around groups of young mutants with no dialogue running down corridors away from peril.

And to think how many people got paid good money to decide that was the way to do Deadpool.

Have you seen Logan yet? It's the best X-Men film by far.

Not yet - working my way through. Heard very good things about Logan.

I've found them better than I thought they would be so far. The whole Cyclops, Jean Grey, Wolverine love triangle was rather dull as well as the teenage melodrama with Rogue and Iceman but they're pretty decent if a little too self-serious in parts.

First Class is next so I'm looking forward to seeing how they go in response to the MCU juggernaut beginning to get up steam.

Yeh it's real good and you can kinda watch it whenever as it's a standalone film outside the same Marvel timeline of the other films (I think). The newer gen films with the younger supes are pretty good; I enjoyed them. Apart from that ginger lass as Jean Grey because she's just an awful actress.

Big Stan. ( finally got around to watching it )

Directed by and starring Rob Schneider.

Ultra ultra black comedy, with a great cast and not for the easily offended.

Schneider plays a timeshare con men sent to jail for fraud and prior to going to jail, David Carradine, a washed up martial expert trains him up in martial arts, so Schneider is ready for jail and all that it throws at him.

Crude, offensive and very funny in parts.

On Netflix.

That's an oldie but goodie

Watched Way of the Gun last night, Benicio del Toro is great but Juliet Lewis was so annoying, had to turn the sound down a few times on her,, great opening scene but after that not so sure.
Also watched Thing to do in Denver when Your dead, really like that film, very under rated IMO, bit Tarantinoish, good film.

Tombstone with Kurt Russell & co, thoroughly enjoyed esp the scene where they appear to be leaving town, only Wyatt isn’t on the train.
Might rewatch Unforgiven next, prob my fav western of them all.

Unforgiven seems to get forgotten about when people talk about the best Westerns.

It`s close on being the perfect Western.
