Last Film You Watched

Not seen Unforgiven for donkeys so I'll have to get round to it as I can't really remember much. Tombstone is ace.

Watched the Man With No Name trilogy and loved For A Few Dollars More....Lee Van Cleef is brilliant in that.

I like Django Unchained but do think it's a little bloated. The Hateful Eight I think is brilliant though and doesn't feel overly long to me. It's not a very Western Western though - almost like a stage play or Hitchcock's Rope.

I've got "The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford" on the shelf here and still haven't got round to it. About 3 hours long apparently but I did like the directors other film with Brad Pitt (name escapes me) so I'll no doubt find time at some point.

Its great, but long.

Another one I really like is 3:10 to Yuma - and in one of those rare circumstances where the original AND the remake are remarkably good/equal in quality.

I watched Hombre last night, Western with Paul Newman. It's about a stage coach ride ride with a group going on a trip that takes a few days across the America West that gets attacked by bandits. Brilliant film, Newman at his best, totally cool, highly recommended.
Also watched Lady In Cememt with Frank Sinatra and Raquel Welsh, like a crime caper, bit of comedy, in Once Upon A Time In Hollywood it's one of the films you see advertised on a Billboard. Was ok like but a bit a bit dated.

Tombstone is great. Westerns are one of my favorite genres. I LOVE older films like Once Upon A Time In The West, The Ox Bow Incident, The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance, Winchester 73. Unforgiven (as much as I love it) is only my third favorite Clint Eastwood western - For A Few Dollars More and Plate Rider top it.

And yes - I love Django Unchained and The Hateful Eight, more modern and a completely different style, but still fabulous!

Right - off to play Red Dead Redemption II now!

Havent seen the Oxbow incident or winchester 73...

Unforgiven and the hateful eight seemed overrated to me :)

Thought hateful eight was just a long pretentious money making vehicle...seemed like a poorly made satire.

Didnt fancy jessee james/robert ford one either but each to their own etc :)

Just watched "run" on Netflix. It's a 90 minute thriller staring Sarah Paulson, she plays concerned mother to a sick kid, but all is not as it seems... I'd give it a solid 3 out of 5. There are loads of twists and turns, some if them obvious, some less so, but it was very enjoyable watch.

Yeah, liked Run quite a bit. Fairly standard thriller type stuff, but elevated by 2 great performances.

Kid just wants a day off school then. Great thanks for ruining it for me.

Always like Sarah Paulson, so will add this to the list.

If we're talking best westerns, it's gotta be Rio Bravo. In general I prefer the spaghetti westerns and Clint Eastwood, but John Wayne in Rio Bravo is superb. Probably one of my all time favourite films too.
All this talk of westerns, and not one mention yet of Young Guns 2: Blaze of Glory???

On a more serious note, My Darling Clementine is my favourite western. A classic take on the Wyatt Earp story, by John Ford - now, he knew how to make a western. Victor Mature is just great as Doc Holliday.

@jaycee loved it, just the type of film I really enjoy. Dark, slow and brooding, with a sense of foreboding that runs throughout the film.

Scarily good performance from the little lad. The fact that the always excellent David Morse plays support to him, is testimony to how good he is.

Anyone who likes dark stuff will enjoy this - on Netflix.
Really good film, its the mundane aspect of it,the slow build up and small signs that something is brewing, the main characters are superb in it
