Last Film You Watched

Completed the trio and watched Robocop 3 last night.

The villainous English mercenary commander is much better done than Cain in Robocop 2. Throw in Rip Torn as the new OCR boss and it's some good OTT scenery chewing. The ninja-bots getting their faces mangled is pretty great looking but aside from that it's a pretty ropey looking film. CGI flying Robocop is something nobody ever needed to see.

The ninjabots could be much better but the certification friendly limits on violence mean they just tend to move around in circles swishing their swords about. It'd have been an absolutely insane bloodbath if they'd been in the first film.

Not remotely good but I can say I enjoyed it marginally more than Robocop 2. Which is the faintest of praise.

Peter Weller wisely ducked out of that one

Just genius this. 50 years old but with a freshness and intelligence that is peerless. The editing and music just meet perfectly.

A joyous family occasion is cut between brutal slayings. Great the way Moe Green takes one in the eye.

"Yes.......I do renounce him....."

Being released at the end of the month in cinemas

Baby Driver: Better than I expected, and lot more violent than anticipated. Kevin Spacey is a creep to say the least but a damn good actor, as is Jon Hamm. Good soundtrack too.

American Gangster: Good film, great soundtrack. Nothing too ground breaking but a good enjoyable gangster film. The first scene was a bit of an eye opener.

The Town: It was alright, but I expected better after seeing good reviews. I didn't really enjoy the rom com aspects of it. Jon Hamm was good as he always is.

Never Gonna Snow Again

This was great. An slightly off beat Polish black comedy about a masseuse who works for who works for a lot of houses in a upper middle class gated community. About how much they all rely on him for happiness, loads of jealousy and stuff.

Never seen this one before. Watching it tonight. Hardly a date movie by any means but apparently an essential one.
Looking forwards to a challenging and educational film about something in history that I feel I should really be more clued up about.

Harrowing mate. One of those films you're glad you watched, but have no desire to watch again any time soon.

The Standoff at Sparrow Creek

Watching it for the 3rd time or so and I just can't get enough of it. I love the script and the claustrophobic location (I have a thing for films that take place entirely in one location or one day). A little bit of a whodunnit in the same vein as Reservoir Dogs. Highly, highly recommend.

Never seen this. Looks right up my street.
