Such a good film. Me and a mate used to get wrecked and watch the opening scene in the garage on repeat. The policeman going off on one used to have us in stitches. From dusk till dawn - takes some balls to put together such a high-end, gritty plot and production. Only to have it devolve into such camp gory nonsense.
An absolute genius bit of film, masterclass of direction, it's got the lot and more. About to start on horror channel in the UK. Freeview 41.
10 parasitic extraterrestrial monsters out of 10.
Isn't there a young Harrison Ford in there too?. Or have I just made that up ?Imo, you have to be in the right mood to watch Apocalypse Now, as it requires full concentration for the whole film.
Whether you like the film or not, there`s many astounding performances in it, Brando being the standout, followed by Sheen, but also from the likes of Hopper and Duvall in support too, even a very young Lawrence Fishbourne.
The " Charlie Don`t Surf " scene. is one of my all time favourite scenes. It`s just magical and even though it was only a small part, no one else could`ve played it like Duvall did.

Just got back from this myself and I’d pretty much agree with your take. Really enjoyed it but as you say there was something missing but not sure exactly what. Hemsworth is so good at this more jokey Thor. I liked him in the more serious ones too but he really nails this versionThor: Love and Thunder
Very entertaining, very funny, lacks something that I can't pinpoint but not as good as Ragnarok was. Bale's Gorr is brilliant but I feel like the character, and his potrayal, are too dark compared to the rest of the film and it's maybe a bit wasted. Some scenes in it I also wish would have died at the cutting part. 2 post-credits scenes but skip the last one as it's pointless like Doctor Strange's was.
7.5/10
