Emancipation, starring Will Smith but sadly Not Chris Rock !! True story of a group of slaves who try to escape torturous conditions through the swamps of Louisiana. Reminded me of Appocolypto but shot in black n white. Mixed reviews, could of been a classic but I thought decent.

Saw 30sec of the trailer while loading up slow horses earlier - his accent was enough for me to skip the rest of it. Shocking

Glass Onion.

I’d enjoyed Knives Out well enough, but didn’t quite get on board with all the massive praise it had got.

Glass Onion I enjoyed a lot more. Thought the writing was quite brilliant (within the genre), and it generally had a tone and pacing that I thought was spot on, as well as some great performances and laugh out loud moments.

Craig’s accent is again, ludicrous, but I think I acclimatised to it this time round. It’s not a genre-breaking, or cinema re-defining movie, but I found it thoroughly enjoyable.

Thought both films were completely forgettable to be honest. I get what they’re trying to do but it’s not that smart

Just finished it. We really enjoyed it. Good cast and just a nice easy film to watch.

Agree with the first sentence, as suspect I won’t remember the movie too long.

But disagree with the second, as think the writing in Glass Onion is extremely smart. Some lovely setups and payoffs going on, and thought there was some great filmmaking on show. The storytelling structure felt much more interesting in this one too, and I suspect a 2nd watch would reveal a lot more foreshadowing etc.

They’re whodunnits, so it’s fairly straightforward genre.
