Was herself's pick for a Saturday night fillum and from the description/trailer I was expecting it to be a crap teen Candyman rip off kinda thang. Its actually a rather good, slow burn, half police procedural/half cosmic horror affair, really well made and very well acted.
It has echoes of stuff like Angel Heart, Kill List, The Void, and it sort of plays out as you think it will, but wrong foots you at the same time and nicely tinkers with common genre tropes. From an intriguing, quite shocking and seemingly disconnected opening to its satisfying ending its a compelling tale and feels shorter than its 2 hours 20.

Recommended. Disney +.

@COYBL25

Watched it last night and didn’t sleep very well as a result, which is always the sign of a good horror film !

You’re spot on about it wrong footing you, into thinking it’s going to be a teen slasher film, as it’s anything but.

I saw nods to Sinister, The Devil Rides Out and The Cell, along with Candyman.

It slowly got more creey, dark and disturbing, as the story developed.

The ending was heartbreaking too.

Deserves a sequel, as there was quite a lot left undone.

Destined to be a cult horror I think.

Cracking film.

Nice one, had a feeling you'd enjoy it.

The original Wrong Turn.

Once the weaker cast members are dispensed with, it becomes a really good film for it’s genre.

The tree tops scenes, in particular are really good cinema and very inventive.

Plus Eliza Dushka is always very watchable.
And did you know that the hillbillies had no makeup on?

They hired kopites, in fact some of them can be seen here:

I joke I jest, watched terminator the other day so it's an obvious choice... even though 'another 48 hours' is far weaker than the original.
Have you heard that they're making a fifth Lethal Weapon?

They should do a 3rd sequel to 48 hours! Have you seen Nick Nolte these days? He's proper off his tree!

It'll be an interesting viewing, that's for sure.

Edit:
Watched 'the menu' on Friday night.
Enjoyed it and recommended it to my mate last night, his missus hated it and now wants to punch me in the face apparently lol

I watched this and Violent Night in succession the other night.

I got to see John Leguizamo die two very horrible deaths!

I know you are looking forward to the last of us mate.

The Menu

Had a great time with this one. Anya Taylor-Joy is perfection. 8/10
I showed it to my mate who’s a professional chef.
He says: Yip I can confirm that this or some variation of it is what most of us in the industry dream day about; Whilst standing over a hot frier all day, just after some tosser has moaned at you for over cooking his steak…

It wasn’t bad… But I would rate it below Speak No Evil and Kill List. Those movies freaked me out more!

The horror movie selections at streaming services are so bad it's almost scary (prime video being a honorable exception, a lot of B movie goodies there). HBO literally has The Green Mile under their horror category just to make the list longer. I'd pay triple the price of Netflix for a streaming service with the entire Hammer horror catalogue on offer. I just can't seem to find anything to watch tonight lol

tempted to watch this but living alone in a 100 year old cave house with regular sleep paralysis kinda puts off with what you have said.
