Last Film You Watched

Silence of the lambs.. 10:50pm ITV4

We don't have ITV in Norway sadly, but it's a masterpiece for sure. Hopkins with one of the greatest performances I've ever seen!

Ended up watching Get Out. Decent film, but they comitted the worst sin I can think of in a horror film: cutting away from the killing of the most annoying character. It drives me insane. Just give me the satisfaction of seeing it dammit. 6/10

He's only in the film for 24 minutes but all he needed

The lesser the fear that you see, the more for your imagination.
My biggest issue with horror films is how they handle the reveal and what happens after that. So often they ruin loads of good build up work once you know who the “baddie” is.

It’s not a classic by any means but the one that always sticks in my mind is Jeepers Creepers (probably because of the age I was when I saw it). The build up was so good and then it was just rubbish after the reveal

It’s subjective mate. I still
love the original Jeepers Creepers and don’t think the reveal detracts anything at all from the film.

Many years on, it’s still a very original film and all done without a big budget.

Of course it is, completely agree. It’s just one that has always wound me up as I loved the set up so much. It’s by no means the worst example of it, just one that annoys me personally.

It`s all about the timing with the reveal, in films like this mate.

Too long and the audience loses interest and it`s hard to pull them back in.

Too early and the rest of the film, can just become padding.

I do know what you mean though.

Disagree there. Whilst reading your first paragraph my first thought was “first JC got it right”. You knew who the baddie was from the start but you never properly saw him.

It’s why the sequels flopped so hard. Took away the mystery.

I probably should have said "what the baddie was" as opposed to who as it was obvious from early on. Maybe I need to watch it again

I'd have been way more interested if it was a human nutter than the weird winged thing that it was. It just lost me immediately

Anyone have a drunken favourite? Whenever I’m drunk I always watch Harold & Kumans and the Hot Tub Time Machine series.
Love the original. The second was trash. If there's more than that they belong in the bin!
The horror movie selections at streaming services are so bad it's almost scary (prime video being a honorable exception, a lot of B movie goodies there). HBO literally has The Green Mile under their horror category just to make the list longer. I'd pay triple the price of Netflix for a streaming service with the entire Hammer horror catalogue on offer. I just can't seem to find anything to watch tonight lol
There's a streaming service that does only (mainly), horror movies. Can't remember the name (single word, one syllable I think). Dunno how good their collection is tho.

Saw Avatar 2 the other day. Never saw the original, and went in with low expectations, but got to say I actually really enjoyed it. It is a bit long, but I didn't mind that so much as I enjoyed all the stuff that could most easily have been cut.

Also saw Shin Ultraman. Crazy japanese scifi action film. Also a bit longer that it needed to be, but good fun if you're into that kind of thing/kaiju films.

Finally got around to watching Banshees of Inisherin. A lot of Martin McDonagh's films leave me cold for some reason, but I always end up watching them because of my missus. I have to say, this was easily the best of his films I have seen, thanks to Farrell, Gleeson, Condon and Keoghan. A simple story well told on a lovely Atlantic backdrop. 5 fingers out of 5
