Marvels - it's not terrible but it's just completely pointless which is worse.

Marvel is dead as soon as it snapped.

Their phase 4 has been on par if not worse than with DC.

Deadpool 3 up next and they will just bring loads of X-Men in buck the trend and get as much money out of this dead horse.
It has not been great but nowhere near as bad as DCEU in my opinion. Only DCEU film that I thought was good was the first Wonder Woman. Actually Suicide Squad 2 was good. All the rest have been a complete mess capped off recently with The Flash. The new Aquaman looks terrible as well.

Phase 4 and 5 has had Black Widow, Spider-Man 3, Black Panther 2 and Guardians 3 which I thought were all way better than almost anything DC have done. There has been a lot of trash along the way though and they now have the issue with Jonathan Majors and they seem to be leaning towards changing everything rather than recasting which is madness.

Black Widow? Please.

Phase 4 and 5 is full of utter turds and plotholes full of boring Magic and Spacejazz.

They are going down the road of utterly yawn with bland TV shows for homework to watch another boring Film for callbacks.

Disney just chuning out year over year crap.

Anybody else feel let down by the highly regarded Oppenheimer? A mess of jumping forwards and backwards in time, when really the story would have been interesting enough with a linear approach.

Also the modern fad of actors whispering or mumbling their lines meant much of it wasn't worth the hassle of trying to understand every word. Lots of irrelevant footage about the personalities and not much at all about one of the most significant the scientific developments if the last century.

It's not that I'm suggesting personalities are irrelevant, but given the film industry's recent penchant for tampering with realities for the sake of inclusion or titillation, its hard to trust what is being portrayed of a real life character to add drama - and I don't like that. What was interesting, if true, is his poor treatment by an ungrateful and paranoid US state. Similar to Britain's unconscionable treatment of Turing after the same war. This so called "free world" consistently rewards the wrong people with cash and medals. Something about the network I guess.
Enjoyed Oppenheimer as a film, maybe not as true to life as is should be , but hey this is Hollywood since when did they behave any different.
The casting was excellent Cillian Murphy well suited for the part backed up by Damon, Downey, Oldman ,Blunt and even Tom Conti. If you take it for what it is its a very enjoyable film.

If on the other hand you would like a history refresh on a much smaller budget I suggest this.Screenshot_20231116_213334_Chrome.webp
Well put together and a lot more factual.

I have in mind a bbc (I think ... in the days when the bbc was the best on the planet) series around 1980, that I watched with my dad. I was hoping for something that good, I guess, rather than being distracted/itritated by film affectations.

That’s all fair enough. Not going to argue with anyone that doesn’t like the recent MCU films as I’m not a massive fan of them myself. I was more just questioning how rubbish DCEU has been in comparison.

I didn’t think it was rubbish, just a bit underwhelming like a lot of Netflix films.

For a Davy Fincher, expected alot more.

Same here, but Netflix for some reason, seem to have found a way to pump out non stop average films, no matter who is in them or who makes them.
Agreed. Really looking forward to what Fincher was going to do as he’s been involved in some magnificent film and TV series but he just tried to do get Fassbender to play an internal John Wick monologue without the action, all the while with Morrissey wailing in the background… all very meh.
Netflix films are needlessly poor in the main.

Cold Pursuit.

Liam Neeson, does what he does best, goes on a trail of murderous vengeance.

Remake of a very good Norwegian film - In order of disappearance.

Neeson plays a snow plough driver in Colarado, who’s only son is murdered by the local drug gang and he then goes on a trail of vengeance.

Neeson is good and it’s darkly funny in parts ( like the original ). The cinematography is excellent too.

One to watch on a Saturday night with a few beers.
