Interesting movie. He's a mute, so not a word of dialogue is spoken throughout the whole film, hence the title. 😳

Does it borrow off the excellent Don’t Breathe, where the lead is a blind ex special forces soldier ?

Or is it full on John Wick ?
I can see how you can make that comparison, but no, it's not a suspense thriller/horror at all.

It's a typical revenge movie where the lead trains for a year before going total banana's, lol, and yes, the action scenes are very John Wick-esque! 😂

I just thought it was an interesting watch to see how the director got the characters to interact with each other without talking.

Calibre (Netflix)

Two lads go for a hunting weekend in a remote village in rural Scotland but come a cropper with their shooting and subsequent decision making. Low budget but really well shot, tense, well acted and though this kind of thing is laden with tropes it deals with them well enough.

Nice to see this kind of thing where it doesn't go full on League Of Gentlemen and instead has the locals being well written realistic characters with understandable motives.

Bloodsport (again)

Low budget and absolutely full of bad acting and tropes. Pure awesomeness though.

It'd have been a very different film if the 'Slaughtered Lamb' were all doing the hokey-cokey...

Absolutely fantastic, every minute, every frame.
Cast, screenplay, cinematography, direction, setting and of course the music - flawless across the board.

I know its not been without its share of criticism but as a work of cinema, I was engrossed and fully enjoyed it from start to finish. I'll be stunned if Carey Mulligan doesn't win an Oscar.

Netflix.

Poor things - a very weird film, very brave performance by Emma stone with the amount of sex and nudity in this film but it’s so bizarre and wacky like Frankenstein meets One flew over the cuckoos nest. The cinematography was stunning with the wide angle scenes and black and white moments then full of colour moments. Can see why Emma Stone won a golden globe for best actress although I’ve not got much to compare against as the only other nominee I had seen was the film barbie. I haven’t seen the color purple, no hard feelings, May December or Fallen leaves yet so can’t say whether or not she deserved it but she was very good in this film. Seeing American actors try and do an English accent is a bit weird but didn’t really distract me too much. Thought willem defoe and mark ruffallo were also both very good. 7.8/10 for me

Not a huge superhero fan but I watched Batman vs Superman and them Snyders Justice League after that. Decent fair and Snyder is very good at the visual side but he has a habit of having main characters during fight scenes have in depth dialogue with other characters. I find myself saying "You dont have time for this mate...." lol. Like Batman vs Superman, two of the smartest people on the planet dont realise theyre being played against each other. And Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luther.........? nahhhh, not sinister enough.

I remember having a big row with a colleague soon after it's release.

He was a bona fide nerd who saw it 3 or 4 times in the cinema and gushed about it after each visit. He'd get realky mad when I called it Ferngully in space.

He made outlandish claims that it will 'Revolutionise how all movies are made from now on."

Well, its been such a revolution that the only film that looks even remotely like it was it's sequel, almost 15 years later.

Avatar: 7/10 (because it was different visually.
Avatar 2: It looked exactly the same as Avatar but with more water and a weaker storyline. 5/10
Avatar 3: It's gonna have to really wow me to avoid a 3/10
Isn't it just a beastility film anyhow. Them all running around plugging their tails into everything.
