The Holdovers.

Think I love everything about this film from the beautiful, haunting soundtrack to the well-written script to the excellent performances from the three lead actors.

9.5/10

Near perfect reviews too.

Just finished this. Absolutely loved it, and I normally don't really like Giamatti.

This is actually not bad. Plenty of familiar faces, all of whom can act in their sleep, put together a familiar enough story of past lives catching up with you in a good enough way for a Saturday night-in film...

It's a bit Mission Impossible ish.

But great cast & the missus really enjoyed it.....so it's just about OK for me.

Now I ain't seen this since back in the day I don't think, on VHS, didn't bother at the flicks, even though the first is one of my all time favourites. Reviews were a bit sniffy, it felt a bit of a cash grab and a pretentious young ste was expanding his cinema palette. I remember being less than whelmed.

So a chance to revisit on HD and it was a bit of a joy actually. It segueways nicely, the four lads have mad charisma and Winston and Egon get the chance to develop a bit as characters. Sigourney is delightful as a new mum Dana Barrett, and Peter MacNicol does a great turn as the possessed villain. It's really well made and chock full of gags.

It ain't the stone cold classic of the original and it is a bit of a retread but in retrospect, it's a very enjoyable film, and compared to the skipfire 2016 reboot and the lacklustre sequel its a 'kin masterpiece.

On Prime.

So then, what you're saying is that if Reservoir Dogs was filmed today, it wouldn't differ that much from the original, but if Pulp Fiction was, it would be a completely different movie?
