Last Film You Watched

just back from this and I wasn't overly impressed to be honest. Dragged on for far too long, wasn't as much action as I thought there would be and don't personally think it was any better than the first one.

Has set up for the next film though.

Mostly agree. Disappointed that Villeneuve deviated from the source material for the script going with the religious fanaticism arc which is pitched a bit politically convenient for my taste - shame. It changed the dynamic between the leads too since it doesn’t go like this in the original books either

I thought overall it moved too slowly when quite a bit is meant to transpire in this time frame so it felt disjointed for me. Fast here, slow there and then suddenly to arrive at a climax. Didn’t have the same pace or structure as the first film - a lot of ground covered in less film time

Also the atomics aspect really wasn’t explained well in film or fallout which seemed to be wholly ignored

Clearly 3rd film pending although books make it more complicated to put on screen going forward

I have a feeling this is one of those which is in a lot of people's top ten but rewatched The Untouchables last night as my wife randomly wanted to watch it as had never seen it

It obviously looks good as a period piece but I couldn't believe how bad the acting was. I don't remember thinking that last time I watched it a good few years back. Costner basically doesn't act for the whole movie, he just mutters his lines and never changes his face. There's a scene the first time he shoots somebody and I think it's supposed to show he didn't want to be violent but my god it's some of the worst acting I've seen from a supposedly decent actor... I was laughing out loud at how bad some of it was

A lot of the bit part characters performance and script wise belong in a b-movie

Edit: Connery's was a decent character but Oscar winning performance, no way

Speaking of the script, I thought it was terrible for 80% of the film and was amazed to see it was written by David Mamet.

Then the music by Ennio Morricone sounded like it was made for a different movie or was just left over from some other movie. It was great like, but It didn't fit the film.

Anyways my reaction is more because I remembered it fondly and when I check the reviews I see it was generally received quite well but I think it's a bit of a stinke
“ he sends one of yours the hospital , you send one of his the morgue “ hahaha

Could be a thread in itself this, misremembered movies - you thought they were great...

I am not the greatest Costner fan out there, but I think this is his most phoned-in performance going. Everything else you've covered far better than I could, but I totally agree.

Finally saw Dune last week on Netflix. May have to wait for part 2 to stream aswell due to most cinemas showing stuff dubbed into Spanish. There are some places with original language showings but usually more independent stuff. We'll see.

Watched Blood and Gold a couple of nights ago. German film set at the end of WWII. Loved it
