Last Film You Watched

Abjectly dreadful and quite reprehensible 'event horizon' is about to start on channel 4.

Might top up my dislike for this disaster. Would have been amazing if nic coppola had been the hell demon rogering them all silly in those campy split shots from the afterlife or whatever. The best few seconds of this film were binned. A ham hock of distinguished proportions. God awful schlock!

Boo!

Watched that when it came out and 1. The intro is amazing with the drums and flying over the paramount logo and 2. Was the loudest movie ive ever seen. Made it loads scarier.

Watched it last night too.

It`s marginally better than the first, but still has a script like a 12yr old has written it.

I think the correct description of both films, would be self indulgent rubbish.

As @ste d' indica said, even Sofia Boutella can`t save these films.

Sadly, it looks like there`ll be a third.

Was talking to a mate who worked on it for a year and Snyder wont get a third due to the terrible reviews. Head of Netflix has been replaced and theres a bunch of stuff on hold / cancelled.

It amazes me how these films get through the test screenings.

Anyone with a pair of eyes can see how bad they are !

Nepo babies aren't just starring in and making films. The industry is absolutely rife with people in big decision making roles based entirely on who their parents / family are.

Nic Cage being the exception to the rule of course.

Watched Civil War in the cinema. Havnt been so let down by a film in a long time was expecting something totally different from the trailer and reviews. Thought is was a boring load of rubbish imo. Gave a decent account of a certain profession though was the only good thing I could say about it

Land Of Bad (2024)

A Hemsworth brother (Not Thor) gets attached to a US elite special forces team (containing another Hemsworth, also not Thor) as a J-TAC to help co-ordinate with eye in the sky drone pilot Russell Crowe who is based back home watching monitors, ruminating on life, the military and domestic bliss while wiggling his joystick, doing some shopping and clashing with the disinterested knuckleheads at the base.

Not ultrarealistic in terms of our hero weaving between impossible amounts of gunfire, explosions, fighting and torture. There's some clunky pontificating on the remote detachment of modern drone warfare from fellow soldier Ricky "Hollyoaks" Whittle and a suitably generic warlordy/terroristy Big Bad.

I will say though it looks astonishingly good given the reported sub $20M budget. Apparently shot in Australia for the financial incentives on offer so there is a lot of Aussies cast as US soldiers (2 x Hemsworths, Russell Crowe looking like John Goodman circa 2017) and other low budget options but they're all pretty decent.

Not great but certainly not bad. Very good looking bang bang boom boom action flick.

Watched Killers of the Flower Moon on our American Airlines fight from JFK to Heathrow today. Great film with a stella cast: DiCaprio, De Niro, Jesse Plemons and American Indian actress Lily Gladstone (who I fell a little in love with as the film played out). Must read the book, Killers of the Flower Moon: The Osage Murders and the Birth of The FBI.
