'Johnny Handsome' 1989. Not Walter Hill's finest hour. A sort of amalgamation of a few of his films at the time. Cast is beyond dreams, but by golly-gosh it's a no no! One facial reconstruction gone perfectly out of ten. And that is being very kind.

Haven't seen it but it's interesting to read Walter Hill's take on what was required when casting....

If you let any histrionics in, it will fall apart. You have to trust the drama of the whole rather than an individual scene. And that's antithetical to most actors. They want to know, 'Where's my big moment? When do I get to cry and scream?' Mickey understood that.

Yet years later a visionary took a different approach to a tale of facial surgery. A critically and commercially successful approach....

If you haven't seen this, do ! The worst sc-fi film ever ; Bela Lugosi died halfway through filming, so his stand in wandered round the rest of the film with his cape obscuring his face. Also brings a new meaning to 'special effects'.

Is the room at the MGM that much bigger than Caesar's, or is that perspective? I was surprised at how small the viewing room at the 'biggest' sportsbook was, when I visited. I wouldn't call the one at Caesar's cozy, but I wouldn't call it expansive, either.

Unforgiven (1992) - stumbled across this on a streaming site, looking for a documentary on the Battle of the Little Bighorn that might not even exist.

Anyway, really enjoyed it, then saw the awards and nominations it racked up and felt slightly ashamed for not showing due reverence when watching.

Civil War. Really good watch. Quite scary probably because it is disturbingly believable.

Star Trek II - Wrath Of Khan
Excellent. Ricardo Montalban hits the bullworker, goes full Peter Stringfellow then puts mind control slugs in people's ears.

Star Trek III - The Search For Spock
Excellent. Christopher Lloyd plays the baddie so you end up with a Klingon that sounds like Doc Emmett Brown. And you get to see Kirk's swinging bachelor pad at the start of what is obviously gonna be a massive space cocaine party until Spock's dad comes along and puts a massive downer on things.

Star Trek IV - The Voyage Home
Excellent. Spock knocks out a middle aged fat punk and then goes swimming with whales in short shorts. Kirk gets completely friend-zoned at the end.

Do you want to wake up with a bang in the morning and jump clear across the room?

Anyway, watched the latest action revenge film....

Pretty good! If you enjoyed Monkey Man, you'll enjoy this one.
