Last Film You Watched

Todd Phillips has shamelessly stolen every idea that goes into that bloated pretentious mess, it's an awful film by a director who is not as smart as he thinks he is.
'Batman by numbers', the more I go over it the more transparent the references are. 'The king of comedy', 'the machinist', 'one flew over the cuckoo's nest', 'fight club', where's the stairs dancing from, it's at least an other film if not more. I'll pick it eventually.

'shallow and pedantic' right?
Indeed...

That's a really great description, saved partially by some great performances but boy does it hit you with it's message over the head again and again
I'll get around to watching it one day, but it's hard to take a movie that's trying to be profound and deep seriously when you remember it's about a comic character. 🤷‍♂️

Watched Deadpool 3 last night. Probably the best Marvel film since the Avengers stuff but either just over that stuff now or something about the franchise just lost any appeal it had for me 🤷‍♂️
Superhero movies in general have been done a bit to death now, IMHO.

Might be time to take a break and watch a movie with a bit of substance. Can I suggest something like:

Not Hopkin's best performance, but still worth a watch.

Watched requiem for a dream last night

Kept thinking of the saw films with the music score

Was a good film. I thought there would be more twists but it’s just a realistic portrayal of the spiral of drug addictions and loneliness and shows that addiction doesn’t discriminate what class you come from. I did think the woman was getting scammed by someone about appearing on tv and it would turn out to be her son scamming her or that the juice guy on tv would be her husband who died which is why she always watches that show. I also didn’t understand why the son didn’t go back to his mother’s place and sell the expensive tv he bought her when they were struggling for money.

7/10
That and Chasing Amy are two films that leave me feeling really flat after watching them.

Watched "American Gangster" again last night. Denzel being effortlessly cool and Ridley Scott displaying his customary visual sheen. Great movie. Plays fast and loose with the real details of Frank Lucas' rise and fall but it's superbly acted and really captures the late 60's-early 70's vibe. Always buzz off this bit. YOU BLOT THAT! PUT THE CLUB SODA ON IT!

It's very rarely shown on TV - because it's absolutely horrifying. It's on BBC 4 tonight. 10:00pm I think.
40 years on - it's a timely reminder of how [Poor language removed] the world would be in the event of an Atomic attack. Grim but incredible film-making.
All these global leader dickheads who are "proud" of their nuclear arsenals should be forced to watch this with Clockwork Orange-style headsets.

I've downloaded it and will probably watch tonight. Expecting much grimness.
