Hanks fits very nicely that 'very nice' aspect of American reflection. Toy Story series, oh he's wholesome, Apollo 13, he's the quiet hero next door family man, Splash, the great big kid with a heart as big as all outdoors, The green mile was a slight change of pace and still he was as pure as the driven snow.

I liked his odd ball efforts, Dragnet, Big, Joe vs the volcano.

He'll end up taking a leaf from Grant and playing some rum moody mafia don boss soon.

God I forgot about Splash actually, I take it all back he is the best actor of all time

I suppose it goes to show just how rare the Peter Sellers types are. Bill Murray, Gene Wilder, Leslie Nielsen. It's difficult being funny. Pesci is genius in MCV for instance.
