Last Film You Watched

Watched 'Threads' last night. Wasn't as harrowing as I expected it to be.

Reece Dinsdale really is a crap actor. Also noticed a very young Bernie from Coronation Street.
It's reputation softens the impact but I think it'd proper get under the skin if I saw it fresh with no preconception. I thought Reece Dinsdale was fine in it though.

But now every time I see a post about Threads that silent, staring woman with the dead baby comes back into my head. Even this morning I thought it was the first genuinely cold feeling morning of the year and then immediately started thinking about Nuclear Winter.

Got in my head that film. Reckon it's definitely changed a few minds from 'I'd be a doomsday prepper survivalist type' to 'I'm getting as close to the nearest military base as possible in time for that bomb'.

Not sure tom hanks has ever made a non-bland film, not saying they are all bad but god they are beige. I'd rather made one great and three crap instead of the middle for ever
Cloud Atlas? More of an ensemble than a defined lead role though.

Saving Private Ryan, or the battle scenes anyway, definitely set the bar going forward and couldn't really be described as beige.

Hanks fits very nicely that 'very nice' aspect of American reflection. Toy Story series, oh he's wholesome, Apollo 13, he's the quiet hero next door family man, Splash, the great big kid with a heart as big as all outdoors, The green mile was a slight change of pace and still he was as pure as the driven snow.

I liked his odd ball efforts, Dragnet, Big, Joe vs the volcano.

He'll end up taking a leaf from Grant and playing some rum moody mafia don boss soon.
