Last Film You Watched

Watched Incident in a Ghostland, after seeing a couple of recommendations in here.

Can’t say I enjoyed it, I actually think I might have hated it.

The twist was well handled and caught me off guard, and good performances, but it felt quite mean spirited and the wrong side of exploitation cinema. I think that might have been the point, a bit of a commentary on the genre, but the handling of it left me cold.

It’s the way the director who directed it, likes his film mate to
He mate. it’s a love or hate it, with little inbetween.

His breakout film - Martyr, was very similar in style.

Heretic.

Here’s something I never thought I’d write, Hugh Grant is terrific in this !

Effortlessly swinging between, charming gentlemen, to sneering psycho.

He looks like he’s having a ball too.

Although it took a while to get going, I really enjoyed this and even though it wasn’t remotely frightening, I was thought it was very entertaining and kept me interested all the way through.

You really rooted for the two young missionary girls, once Grant had them in his clutches and also very much wanted bad things to happen to the creepy and slimy Grant too.

Didn’t know that. Must be why they have the main girl from X playing the younger version of the old woman.

They got trapped on New Zealand and made two films - X and it’s prequel - Pearl.

Both filmed at the same farmhouse, with Mia Goth in the lead in both.

Considering both films reportedly cost a million each to make, I thought they were very good.

More of a remake than a sequel if you mean the Jordan Peele one with Yahya Abdul-Mateen staring.
Didn’t think it was that bad myself 🤷‍♂️
Yeah, I thought it was absolute garbage 🤣🤣

It’s a direct sequel as it talks about the events of the first film. The main character’s mum is a returning character from the 1992 version and he is also a massive part of the story of the original.
