Did you like Poor Things?Had time to reflect on this. Although the nudity/sex scenes were quite prolific and graphic, they were not overly explicit so probably veered on the right side of gratuitousness given the subject matter. Was also concerned that it may have over glamourised the sex industry, but by the end I'd say those concerns were unfounded.
Either way this was both a brave and powerful performance by Mikey Madison, a young actress I'd previously not even heard of. Wouldn't be at all surprised if she were Oscar nominated for this. I'd definitely recommend it. If you can get past the first 45 minutes you'll be rewarded by a film that is quite often moving and funny in equal parts, and I'll wager you'll fall in love with the lead character.
Possibly my favourite film of all time.View attachment 287919
When she doles out who Eastwood really is and the fate of Freeman, her face cracks with her voice with the gravity of the crimes he's commit.
Simply magnificent.
I'd go even higher with a 9. It felt very nostalgic watching it on Christmas Day, with memories of the early 90s. The Wrong Trousers is a national treasure!Wallace & Gromit: Vengeance Most Fowl
Lovely stuff, 8 on 10.
Add Operation Daybreak to that, which is currently on Channel 5.
I marked it slightly down because I think it was a bit derivative and the storyline wasn’t as clean as The Wrong Trousers.I'd go even higher with a 9. It felt very nostalgic watching it on Christmas Day, with memories of the early 90s. The Wrong Trousers is a national treasure!
