Last Film You Watched

aw, that's a shame...it's on my watchlist and looks pretty funny on the trailer.

why was it so kakk?

I quite enjoyed it. But I'm a bit of a Franco fanboy so could well be biased.

On another day I might have found it quite funny, but I dunno, just didn't do it for me. I quite like Seth Rogan and James Franco though.

Give it a watch, I might be being overly harsh. I watched Mad Max the other day and everyone raves about that, I didn't think it was all that.

Skyfall on itv again the other day.

I've tried to like it, but I just think it's poor.
I would say it's an OK film, but an awful James Bond film. The plot could have come straight from the Die Hard franchise or similar.....

Megalomaniac bad guy, supposedly with the power to topple governments, start WWIII, etc.....decides to have mummy problems and goes after his old boss. And then, oh look, you fell into my plan and trapped me in this perspex box (Avengers & Dark Knight having done the same thing very recently previously), from which he escapes with help from the perfectly timed easy hacking of a super-dooper encrypted which is protected with just a simple password that Bond guessed. Then every trap he sets, Bond falls into, train, policemen etc.
I know films, esp. Bond, aren't supposed to be too realistic but this whole film had far too many conveniences too often.

And Bond is the ultimate spy, bloke, shagger, and general boss. He doesn't run away and lure enemies in with traps - he goes balls out and faces whoever. Going to Scotland and making lightbulb explosives, christ it's like Home Alone. Not saying the Pierce Brosnan and invisible cars type of things were any good btw, but some sort of cutting edge technology/gadgetry & creativity is part of Bond.

Not looking forward to Spectre at all tbh with Mendes in charge again.

I was the last person expecting to enjoy a Harry Potter movie, but what can I say? Prisoner of Azkaban is almost perfect.

It's weird but sometimes I see this kind of comeback to criticism of a favourite thing, as if the lad can't accept other people find it not-that-great so thinks up reasons in his head why they must be saying so.

Almost perfect? I'm struggling to think of how a Harry Potter movie is perfect. For a ten year old, yes. What you find 'weird' is not weird mate. Your calling a Multiple Oscar Winning Critically Acclaimed film average and then comparing it to a Harry Potter kids film which made the least money in the entire series. That's weirder but that's your opinion which your more than entitled to express.

I rated the film a watchable 6/10, so not quite bashing it anyway, praising the visuals as the best I've seen in a very long time. Check out the highest-rated IMDB user reviews...full of highly-disappointed 1/10 tomes. I'd wager that it's not particularly hip to bash the film, rather that many people just didn't like it. It had ultra-cheap emotional triggers (which it kept repeating), utterly unrealistic plot progression and a cringeworthy George Clooney alongside the wimpy unlikable Sandra Bullock (quite a feat to make someone as nice as her unlikeable).

But amazing effects, granted.

You only have to look on the first page of Azkabahn reviews to see a 1/10 mate. Out of 1,490 user reviews. People troll.

It's not complex by any stretch of the imagination, its story is a textbook-template used by hundreds of other films/books/TV shows.

Visionary in terms of the camera movement (even if a lot of it was digitally-enhanced), I grant you. And even if sometimes unrealistic the depiction of movement in space was very well done. But in terms of the story, characterisation and deeper meaning there was nothing new here.

I watched The Andromeda Strain recently...now that is a complex science fiction story, with the emphasis on science. Not much in the way of emotional backstory to the characters, because who cares? We want the science fiction!

Other space films I rate higher than Gravity: Star Trek: The Motion Picture, The Black Hole, Sunshine, Pandorum, Star Wars trilogy, Event Horizon, Transformers: The Movie (1986).

Some of these aren't realistic space sims, obviously, but they're more engaging films.

I don't think you can see any deeper meaning. That's not to say it isn't there, you were just too busy not liking it to see anything else.

Let me ask you this. Was azkabahn -

A: the best Harry Potter film
B: your favourite Potter film, or
C: the one you referenced because it was the same Director?

Wish I Was Here - the Zach Braff film he got partly funded through Kickstarter. Imagine the person you dislike most in the world standing on the face of your beloved childhood pet for two hours whilst talking about how difficult their life has been exclusively in cliches.
