Last Film You Watched

The big lebowski 10/10

Forgot how good this was still one of my favourite films

Love the Coens, in my top 3 for Directors/Writers, and this and Fargo were the first of their films I saw. Still one of my faves.

Watched 'The Martian' today.

Neither myself not the gf were excited but seeing as Matt Damon was in the lead and the only other option was "Pan"...

I've heard both are good actually.

Tombstone last night...

Great film. So long since I've seen it tho :|

Went to see MacBeth last weekend with my gf. I've never seen it or Hamlet before, so found it difficult to understand what they were saying at times, as it seems to be a fairly faithful production. Cinematically it was really bold, and reminded me in ways of 300, with some scenes using very striking use of colour and slow (almost still frame) cinematogrophy.

Went to see Sicario last night.

The film is ruined by the woeful miscasting of Emily Blunt as the lead and her sidekick, British actor - Daniel Kaluuya.

Without giving too much away, she just isn't convincing as a Swat veteran with principles and Kaluuyas only job seesm to be to follow her around looking miserable .

Could've been a great film.

6 drug mules out of 10.

Seen it last night, I really enjoyed it though I can see where you're coming from regards her sidekick. His role in the film was totally pointless.

Macbeth
The Martian

Both great films. The Martian is easier and more entertaining to watch, but if you are in the mood for a deep emotional beautifully shot film than Macbeth is the one.

Saw the lego movie last week. I usually like that kind of thing but gave up on this halfway through, could've been the bottle of wine i'd had prior though

I thought the Lego movie was utter rubbish. Very overrated. I quite enjoy the likes of Toy Story, and How to Train a Dragon etc. But even my younger brother hated it.

Really fantastic movie, totally different to that interstellar tosh or the one sandra bullock and clooney were in.

If you havent seen it then go and watch it.

I was put off watching this because of Matt Damon...he just seems so over-exposed. But seen as you're bashing Interstellar and recommending this I'll think I'll give it a go after all.

Aliens. I mean, after nearly 30 years you'd think it would want to put its feet up and relax, but no, still kickin' serious ass.

First ones still the best though.

Agreed: Alien an excellent 9/10 and Aliens a very good 8/10. Just rewatched Prometheus for the first time since it came out, it's actually improved...prob because already accepting the nonsense I could just enjoy the ride more. A good 7/10.

Also went through The Marathon Man. Intriguing build-up, Olivier great as the baddie ("is it safe?"), but Dustin Hoffmann's limp turn and the silly plot developments were offputting. An average 5/10, not really worth your time unless you're a fan of Roy Scheider's legs.

What !

Alien is a 9 out of 10.

Aliens is a 10 out of 10 all day .

I do agree about Prometheus though. I've now seen it three times and can get my head around it now. The ending is utter gash though, which ruins the whole film.

I enjoy horror elements over gung-ho action in film anyway, and prefer the more realism-based acting of the original cast over the somewhat try-hard machismo of some of Cameron's lot. Other things like Ash's reveal, the alien hiding behind that cabling in the shuttle, and of course John Hurt's bellyache...these are powerful moments which the second film never matched for me. Aliens is still marvellous entertainment, tho'.

Love Sigourney Weaver in all of them...favourite actress, she's brilliant in everything.

I'm guessing the Engineer's reaction will be explained in the second film. If Ridley Scott's back on form with The Martian then maybe we're in for a treat. Also I think the director of District 9 is making an Alien 5 so hopefully we'll be spoilt! Just hope they focus on one or two main strands rather than trying to fit a dozen things in (we don't really need relationship drama in an Alien film).

You are not kidding are you? I mean Doc Holliday? Come you are just pulling our tools.

he's where i get my whiskey fixation from

The Martian was a really good film, expect nerds to come out and state how many mistakes were made in calculations though. Gonna give whiplash a go tomorrow
