Last Film You Watched

It starts really well but then goes all silly at the end which was a huge let down for me.

i seen Lucy this week,
IMAX doesnt show Morgan Freemans in a good light.

Lucy. What a terrible film.

Watched Lucy last night. It was a bit of a mess tbh, seemed like they spent all the money on Johansson, Freeman and fx and hardly anything on the script and plot.

Just watched Lucy and it had the potential with its storyline to be pretty good but was average if you ask me. The ending is very poor, just finishes and it's a bit like, what's the point of this film!

Utter aimless drivel ! Besson has lost the plot.

Lucy with Scarlett Johanssen. Absolute load of tosh! That is all i'm willing to waste on that film

Finally got round to this and was left as disappointed as with Under The Skin. I expected too much of both, tho' Scarlett Johanssen performances are pretty good.

Still, I thought Lucy was enjoyable for the most part, some fun scenes. My main problem were the gangsters: totally unnecessary, just a stupid dumb distraction. The rest can be said in this quote from a reviewer:
"The end of the movie goes completely off the rails, but in a way that is charming in its stupidity. It's like 2001: A Space Odyssey for those with short attention spans, and those people need to have their minds blown, too, I suppose."

A solid 6/10 with brain in off-mode.

I was put off watching this because of Matt Damon...he just seems so over-exposed. But seen as you're bashing Interstellar and recommending this I'll think I'll give it a go after all.

Agreed: Alien an excellent 9/10 and Aliens a very good 8/10. Just rewatched Prometheus for the first time since it came out, it's actually improved...prob because already accepting the nonsense I could just enjoy the ride more. A good 7/10.

Also went through The Marathon Man. Intriguing build-up, Olivier great as the baddie ("is it safe?"), but Dustin Hoffmann's limp turn and the silly plot developments were offputting. An average 5/10, not really worth your time unless you're a fan of Roy Scheider's legs.
I just can't get behind Prometheus. Wonderful looking film and great cast but appalling screenplay, baffling logic, awful dialogue. Massive disappointment on first viewing, actually got worse for me on a further watch.

I do agree with your criticisms, hopefully the next one is a lot more focussed. Out of interest what are your favourite sci-fi films? I think I saw you posting about those massive structures in the space thread: i'd love for films to show us stuff like that (bit like some of the classic Trek episodes).

Personally nothing touches 2001, although the first Star Trek movie did a decent job in coming close.

Nothing special but watchable It kept me interested which is more than most films do these days but tbh That could be down to the lovely looking girls in it as much as anything else.
I like the idea of the film, but rotten tomatoes panned it so I didn't bother watching but it's on Yify so may give it a whirl. Cheers
