The Hunger Games

Talk about a missed opportunity. Woeful certification politics ruined it. God awful editing ruined it. Borrowing some Shakespeare ruined it. 'Battle Royale' is far superior. 'The Time Machine' is far superior. 'The Running Man' is far superior. 'The Truman show' is far superior. This was for me a chained together homage of a hat full of other films all dumbed down for a 12 audience. Having not read the books some of the back story only being hinted at must have been the authors final say. And people were allegedly raving about it, calling it amazing.
A very generous 2/10.

Captain America

Oh wow, where to begin. Wasting Weaving. What plot there was had nothing to do with this film, it was simply churned out to allow Captain to show up in Avengers. The same set piece action of throw the shield, over and over. The only interesting bit was the ending where they had a mind manipulation machine they didnt show to make him only see in black and white. Who pitched this film? A bunch of drunken otters? and to whom? Michael Bay on his tequila and 'Gorilla panic' Friday lunch break.
10/10 for being the biggest pi55 take I have seen in ages.

1. You didn't realise she was Tali until the end of the film? Thought it was pretty obvious by the start of the film (the scar Batman sees on Miranda's back). Didn't really see it as a big twist myself. The whole film was set up for it and was telling you along the way, just not in the dialogue.

I didn't either, and that's after havign read about Bane/Ras etc on Wiki a while ago cos I had no idea who Bane was. And I still didn't twig it! :o There are plenty of clues during the film for people who aren't familiar with the Batman universe, which were cool to look ack on after. But obvioulsy it will be, um, obvious, to people who are au fait with Batman...

Great film!

Catwoman, like Lucius Fox became, are just narrative devices that allow the script to "cheat" the story.

Not questioning this, just wanna know what you mean/how you think this is done?

one of the things i liked about the trilogy, was the effort Nolan made to explain why batman is as bad ass as he is, he doesnt just get angry and become a boss fighter. Catwoman just turns up an batters loads of trained killers, is an expert on batmans rather complicated bike, her whole character was cheesy, its lazy, and out of keeping with the rest of the films

The film was long already, she isn't the main protagonist, I don't think there was a need to go into any depth on it. Certainly didn't consider her character cheesy.

Do you really need the backstory on how she learned to fight? Is it strange that batman can master the bat/tumbler/bat-bike on his first go at it?

Accrington Stanley.

Watched Basterds on tv last night. Great film, love QT's films :)

watched the last hour of basters last night aswell, love it so much, agreed with tarantino films as well, pure quality. also had batman on last night hence the batman villain thread

Watched a film about a new york teenage girl who causes a fatal accident. It's called Margaret- best thing I've seen in ages and I see a lot of films.

The Dictator

Fell asleep about 20 minutes in. I think Cohen has had his 15 minutes tbh. Some mildly funny parts but I'll have to watch it again.
