WAYNE ROONEY - put your house on it. He was at the game a few weeks back. I reckon he could easily buy 10% of the club.

There's surely some kind of rule regarding conflict of interests that would stop him being able to own part of one premier league club whilst playing for another?

When things finally start to happend people start freaking out and talking about exploitaion. You couldn't make it up. Evertonians might just be the hardest fans in the world to please.
People lambaste Kenwright for not looking for investment, while reports have constantly stated that he is only looking for the right party.

Investors then apparently come in and people start spouting that they are now cautious, concerned Kenwright may sell to the wrong party...

...as if he is some rogue businessman who'll sell to anyone jeopardising the future of the club. The whole situation makes me chuckle!

Yes we all want the perfect investor: some placid oligarch who'll invest heavily; new stadium; new players; very little risk and ultimate success.

The problem is that this scenario is unlikely if not impossible. If we want investment then there will be some inherent risk for the club.

There have been some success stories, yet equally there have been failings. If we want investment though that's the risk we'll have to take.

Hopefully those behind the scenes, including Kenwright and the board, will upkeep their promise of finding only the 'right' investment.

There haven't been flash sales in the past so hopefully there will not be now.

They may not have seen it as a possible outcome so there may not actually be any rules in place at this point. There should be of course, because some instances could be viewed as match-fixing. But as i read on here yesterday, a new rule was put in that owners couldn't move a club away like they did with MK Dons?

I never really understood the fume against Kenwright and co. I felt they may have kept things a bit safe at times but trusted them not to go mad, its been a strange 10 years in football (finance wise) and in fairness I am glad the board kept things country at times.
Maybe I dont understand the business of football but I am seeing it as a business now.
I like to shout at Howard for being a statue or Osman for being a big girl or Marcus Bent for having treacle for a head but flying banners and protesting against the board is a bit like standing outside your in laws house throwing them V's through the window or farting in your own breakfast.
Not going to throw the "better the devil you know" out there but consortiums mean business , they invest to make money , if they dont they depreciate to sell at a sufferable loss.

Think about it , if you had 300million in the bank and you werent one of us (i.e an everton fan who stays up past his bedtime on forums) would you spend 200 million to buy us?
if you had 3 billion would you?
so wheres the incentive for them?

The question is what is the collateral?

Yes. I'm not a business man, not even close, but i think there's a lot of aspects about our club which could sell itself. We have so little corporate boxes, a large fanbase, growing our reputation in the US, poor kit sponsor, poor advertisement. if they had an advisor who knows their football, they would point out that it would take too much investment in the team to see us qualify for the champions league and instantly make that money back. We have very sellable assets in the playing staff. We're still one of the biggest draws in England, let's not undersell ourselves here, we're on par with a team like spurs, there's no reason, that without the right PR, we can't start collecting income similar to theirs through sponsorship deals.

I think we're possibly one of the best opportunities in britain with regards to making a massive profit, there are a heck of a lot of aspects which could be improved on, especially when you consider the new TV deal(s) that are coming to the premier league, they'll be getting a good helping hand.

Still hoping that the alternates put their tallywackers on the table.
I'm sure there is plenty going on in the background away from media attention. Nothing is fait accompli. Hopefully we learn more about other interested parties in the New Year. And maybe what plan they each have for our Club.

That could come back to bite you mate if rumours were true ;)

Let me get this straight. A bloke called John Moores and a bloke called Noell are looking to buy us around Christmas time. What part of that doesn't sound completely made up.

The truth is often stranger than fiction. It's 100% legit, especially since Martinez got asked about it today at his presser, and the club haven't come out and dismissed it like they do with all other takeover stories. Neither have Moores or Noell too.

Since other news has broken since my initial comment on the subject I feel it appropriate to say I was told the news would break on January 9th (the day of the Dag & Redbridge game). Seems to me quite likely that - and the Echo confirms - there are more than one potential group interested and that my information is still valid.
