Its very naive to assume that any new owners will care 1 jot for the traditions of the club they are taking over.

We are a traditional club. They know it. It's the foundation of this club. Ofcourse they care or atleast see it as one of our strenghts. And if they buy us why diss that fundamental fact.

I

I am not trying to be smart CS , but I wonder which of us is naïve.
Anything can be uprooted, for those who say the FA would not allow it, did they try to stop the move to Kirkby ?

No, because as far as the FA is concerned, Kirkby is close enough. London to Milton Keynes is almost 75 kilometres. Massive difference in distance.

We need a new stadium and owners who can maximise our commercial potential - get us making the most out of our premiership status. Get us better deals with better sponsors. It's not that i'm against a City style takeover it's just it's never likely to happen. I would settle for positive forward thinking and clear steps to setting us up for the future. If new owners come in and can deliver a stadium at the first attempt, keep the promises they make to the fans then we're heading in the right direction. My very business naive take on a takeover

I can just imagine Bill spouting utter bolloxs at the 2 cowboys and them both ignoring every single word that comes out of his mouth.

The only thing they will care about, just like the current board, is growing the business and maximizing profit.

Weird pessimism here

You really are cynical man.

He's right though.

Having said that, part of marketing us would involve marketing our traditions, so they probably wouldn't to push too hard on changing those traditions.

To remain competitive, we need more non-TV revenue being made available to the manager and the infrastructure. If new owners give us that, then they'll be better than the current lot. If they increase non-TV revenue, but siphon that off in some way, then we might end up better long term ( 5 years ? New stadium ? ) but wouldn't progress in the short to medium term.

Well indeed im not saying they will come in and change Z Cars, pull down the dixie statue and rename us to Everton Globe Trotters FC.

They will use our tradition and history as much as they can, to make money, but if they can make more money by ignoring it or changing it, yeah, they will do that.

Now in the Premier League rule book, clubs can only move stadium with the consent of the League and one of the criteria is that the location has to "be consistent with the area traditionally associated with the club".

Rule K.6 from memory. ...
Then anywhere in the Greater Merseyside area would be acceptable to the Premier League, they would not say Everton must stay in Walton or L4. In my opinion, of course.

The win-win for everyone is the buyer that sees the commercial opportunity that our history, stature and values present on a global basis in terms of marketing and narrative.

Of course we need to increase revenues at home through proper retailing operations and ultimately facilities that match the demand that is surely present.

However the big earners are through sponsorship and marketing activities around the world. Here we have an incredible story to tell, the opportunities for brand and value association in different markets is enormous.
