partially public/private funding of a stadium.

Please don't take this personally as it certainly is not, but there is little or no chance of a part publicly subsidised/funded stadium within the City of Liverpool.

I don't want to discourage you from posting by any means but at the same time feel the need to put some reality on your assumptions ;)

This was during the "Divorce" period of 2009 and 2010, when the team's ownership was in flux - so I give Moores a mulligan. Correction A-Gonzalez wasn't homegrown, but acquired via trade (he grew up as a childhood Padres fan however).

Moores did open up the wallet and gave the front office the green light to acquire expensive all-stars like Greg Vaughn, Kevin Brown, Ken Caminiti (RIP), and Steve Finley (this was the core that led the Padres to their 1998 World Series appearance). The Padres kept legends Tony Gwynn and Trevor Hoffman for all if not most of their careers during Moores ownership.

I feel like I've shared too much unwantedPadres information, it'll be interesting nonetheless to see what Everton does with their young core assets/players IF Moores takes over ownership. My hunch is that he will view them as integral part of a championship run that will help sway voters in an election for a partially public/private funding of a stadium.
I/we appreciate your writings. Please feel free to keep them coming.
With the TV revenue increasing considerably from next season, if the fans don't see any new owners investing a large proportion of that on transfers, I would expect considerable fan unrest.
I hope your hunch is correct, but considerable investment in the team would be needed for such a championship run to even be considered as reality.

This is just for arguments sake but what if most of the TV money went towards a new stadium? I may be remember this next bit incorrectly but wasn't arsenal relatively quiet transfer wise while builiding/paying off their new stadium? Not saying it's a great idea, just another possibility

Sure it's possible. But Arsenal were a regular Champions League team and remained so throughout. We'll lose all our best players if we show no ambition.
To me, we need to be investing heavily each Summer in the team first and foremost with the extra TV money, and find other ways to fund a new stadium, or preferably, redevelop Goodison in stages.

basically for me as long as all the Tv money, etc goes back into the club in some way whether it be stadium renovations at goodison, a new stadium, transfers, or even just giving large wage increases to attempt to keep our top performers here. I'd be surprised if anyone at the club was on 120k/ week, while squad players like joel campbell get that at Arsenal. don't pocket the cash, use it to improve some or all aspects of the club and it's a good start

EFC: £7.44 GBP
RS: £51.48 GBP annually
Arsenal: £68.58 GBP annually

If Everton can get that Kit number up to just half of what our neighbors get, that's an improvement that could fund a larger annual transfer budget. EFC needs to be better at generating recurring revenue aside from TV money, before they can spend it.

What's good to know is that Elstone has been so piss-poor at the business end of things that there is a lot of room for improvement with just a competent front office management team in place.

Staggering isn't it?

Thanks very much for taking the time to post all the info. Really appreciated. Short of a Sheik or two, they sound like the sort of owners I want. Savvy.

Little Elstone (who is a joke) can do about it and everything to do with our lack of success over the last 25yrs. What we need to accept is that Everton is not a global brand and until we start winning trophies that won't change. We can bang on about the kit bag deal etc etc.. but when we played Arsenal in the preseason friendly in Singapore, there were 55,000 people there. Only about 1,000 were wearing blue.

They had to sell thir main player every summer. Wenger recently said his greatest achievement at arsenal was keeping them in the top 4 during that period. We couldn't go down that route

Because we've targeted the wrong markets and gone about it poorly

Doesn't some of that have to do with the fact that it is impossible to buy Everton kits in Singapore?
