I welcome the takeover. If it all goes wrong then there is only one man to blame and that is Kenwright himself. Afterall he has said for so many years that he will only sell to the right man. Its took this long so they must be the right men.
agreed as two chineese investors have also shown interest reportedly?

John Moores owned the San Diego Padres from 94 to 2012. In that time a historically unsuccessful baseball team won 5 Major League Titles (1 National League Pennant & 4 West Division Titles), finished runners up in the 1998 World Series to the Yankees (Only their 2nd ever appearance in the World Series), had their most successful ever season (1998), achieved 4 consecutive winning seasons for the only time in their history between 2004 and 2007 and moved to Petco Park.

Kenwright bought Everton in 99, since then we've won f*** all, reached a Champions League qualifier, lost an FA Cup final & had 2 failed ground moves.

But people are worried about what might happen if the yanks take us over?
Apples and Oranges.

The baseball team works with a salary cap making a comparison to the purely capitalist Premier League fall down immediately. The "titles" you talk about aren't League winners titles, it's like making the top 4. Nobody has a clue how it will go, but past performance in an entirely different sport and country is not going to be indicative of a guaranteed success here.

this, a million times. one is a business, the other is a socialized, publically-subsidized cartel. although it's not worth getting into the specifics of THAT again here

now we're demanding 100% infallible foresight from him too. something's off with the logic here, if he's to blame for both not selling and selling simultaneously
I'm by no means suggesting he should be held responsible for the action's of future owners, but he has freely given the people a stick to hit him with by saying he would only sell to the right person.

Please God be the Chinese lads. We'll be playing Howard on 'kin Zimmer frame if dem yanks take over.

haha and it won't just be him wearing the GI Joe gear either

Some bits with baseball.

First, the only title that matters is the World Series.

Winning a division is akin to qualifying for and winning your CL/Euro League group (albeit over a season), you advance to play deeper in the playoffs. So you can point to that. Hooray. Anyone remember us winning our Euro group last year? Or one horrible night in Ukraine?

FWIW, they won the division in 2005 with an 82-80 record. 1 game over .500. The Red Sox won 86 in a stronger division and finished 3rd. The equivalent of having the weakest draw.

Making it to the World Series and getting shelled by the Yankees is a worthy accomplishment, though. It is like getting to a final with a mid-table budget only to get demolished by a team with 3x the payroll.

I do want to see how much they actually spent on personnel and players. Baseball, unlike most American sports, is akin to the Prem where loaded teams can spend circles around poorer clubs and basically use them as a farm system (i.e.EFC or Soton developing players only to have them go when chelski or united come calling) ... if the team's payroll remained a flatline, that is a concern.

not that i'm writing them off, but i'm not exactly overwhelmed with their accomplishments at San Diego either.
