As much as the current board and BK are as polarizing as it gets between Evertonians, I'm sure everyone agrees he actually is, hhmmm, and Evertonian. That much is obvious.

Now, I'm as cautious at the next man, and this has been going on for soooooo long (24/7 whatever!!!) but I really believe that they have gone about this with such caution and concern to find the right deal for our club, that we can be a little optimistic. Lets wait and see what the details of the deal are before we all go into meltdown/panic/jubilation etc etc.

For all our failings with lost stadiums, missed transfer opportunities (if we believe what we read in the press), lies, deceit etc....we are Everton, we are well respected, we came through major, MAJOR financial difficulties. Have we been badly run?

Picture this scenario. We get taken over, we have money, we get a new stadium or re-develop the Old Lady (take your pick), we have been patient (fans and the board) and they found the best deal for our amazing club?

Hey, I'm a blue. I live in la la land remember. But I am (cautiously) optimistic here.

The pessimist in me is looking at all the clubs absolutely bummed by fancy new owners but the optimist is thinking why on earth would investers buy into a club and not spend money on the basics to maximise their potential profits?

maybe because they can maximize their profits by not spending money?

The only hold up is their insistence on counting every dollar individually to make sure it's all there

Whoever takes over this great club must not only understand the 'history' but also the passion and difference the fans and indeed this club stands for. Yes its easy to say that every club has a core that thinks this, but we are different and I believe unique. Our performances over the last ten years have completely been against what the majority thought we would achieve. That's not once bit practically every season. Most of the time the media seem to be against us, look at us a mid table team that simply over performs more than others. To me, if someone is looking to invest in Everton, they do there homework, that provides the status of the club as much as the resaleable value and player assets. Evertons fan base is very different to that of many other clubs and if a party buys us on a ' how quick can we resell at a profit' angle, they will be in for a real shock and also have a huge audience/fan participation issue. I'm all for investment, but real investment that we can pay back on the pitch and over a period of time. For all that people have blamed Bill for, he has for me not only been our chairman but also out guardian. Get well soon and whoever buys us I hope you are the man that decides it.

or selling players

Meh, Im not having that. You could sell our best players for what, maybe £120m? You're still short. So more needs to be spent on new ones, who have to be of a decent standard to sell on again.

Youre original point does stand though

Terrible way to make money.

Devalues the asset that is the club itself.

look at Southampton

or Newcastle... their whole idea was to be "Moneyball" by buying cheap players from France and selling them at a premium to other English teams.

Just because it might be a terrible idea, doesn't preclude new owners from trying it
