.....my understanding is that FF was sold to fund it's infrastructure (basically build the facilities that now exist) but I might have that wrong. I've been fortunate to have a good look around and it is an impressive set up.
That sounds reasonable. And I have to say, if it was sold for that reason it's okay by me

the irony of the Kenwright era is that the basis of some forumers' expectations about how much better things much should apparently have been rests entirely on the stability, transfer-shrewdness, and successful scouting and youth development that characterized his time as chairman. it's only because we did so well at these that so many feel so comfortable taking it for granted.

Not expecting us to start signing 2/3 £20m players every summer, and i think we all shouldnt be expecting that. Whilst i think we'll spend more than we do now, the real investment and improvement from our American Overlords will be off the field i think.

With the TV money and to enable us to compete....I am

For us to compete for the league we would have needed access to billions, not millions. And that's Bills fault Because? Our league positions for the last fifteen years have been excellent when you factor in we are a club in NW England with no money and no global fanbase

Where to begin with this one? Kenwright brought no new money to the club, squandered the chance for the King's Dock due to his own inflated ego, outsourced catering and merchandsing meaning we get a pittance compared to other clubs, nearly took us to Kirkby, sold off the training ground and neglected Goodsion. It didn't have to be that way. We are soon to be one of only 6 clubs to have played every season in the PL (Villa are going down) despite the money that has passed through the coffers and the opportunities to expand the club and its infrastructure. If he was unable to take the club forward, he should have left WELL ALONE.

Im not at all clued up to this buisness malarky but if elstone stays in some sort of marketing capacity
Do u really think these new owners will put up with sh*t deals if he's as bad as his kitbag deal i carnt see him being around for long

Who ever takes over its a case in my eyes of holding our top star players stones lukaku, and RB - the nucleus of our side really if they go we will find it hard to replace them end of - oh by the way whos top of the league they have not spent big money just a great manager!

....couple of points from me although I don't have the business acumen of some on here.

I welcome new owners but my fear is that we won't necessarily see much difference in the amount of monies available to compete with the best in the transfer market. My understanding is that a consortium might well use club income to pay for recovery of loans taken out to buy the club and purchase a new ground.

I understand the view that BK will sell in the best interest of EFC but he is only one of a number of large stakeholders. Their priority might be different to BK and given his apparent illness his hand might be forced in this situation.

Exactly, the talk and stories have been around for 6 weeks, and they are still getting it wrong.
Well you did say "how little the media are reporting this"

Sky have a reporter at Goodison , every media outlet here running the story.
Even American press got hold of it now.Its as widespread as any story in the press.

I'm a little puzzled as to how his domestic situation could effect results on the playing field.
Because effectively his assets and ability to invest would be frozen whilst the divorce is being sorted mate, not only that but as by far the biggest thing he owned he basically had to put it up for sale, never mind the personal head wreck he had as with a lot of divorces - until then he was a very hands on owner apparently whereas from the point his marriage fell apart up till the point until it was sold he was very hands off, so yeah looking from the outside it did have a massive influence on how he was perceived by Padres fans

If you read the report they are only going to have talks, and other interested parties are there waiting to get in on the act - surly BK can use leverage for the best deal possible or simply sell to another bidder?

maybe , but it may not be as accurate as its in the bag though does it it also mentions other chinese investors too!

has there been any building work done there recently? i know martinez was talking about adding accomodation facilties and other things.

....as I say, I'm no businessman but I always thought this was very short-sighted. Owning our own training ground makes good economic sense but to sell it back and incur significant costs over a long period just didn't make sense. Sure we needed monies to pay for the new facilities but doing it this way seemed a bit daft.
