I think the Bolton acquisition might be a very shrewd one. Given all the debt owed to Eddie Davies (£175 million) is written off, then it's a decent punt. Would obviously help enormously if they could keep their Championship status this year.

Once the takeover deal has been agreed we will know some more of the facts, but he will no doubt write off the majority of the debt to get it over the line.

Think the talk is he is leaving £15 million of debt, so he can remain the main creditor.

Now, the full reason behind that we don't know. He may be using it as a carrot to dangle in front of the new owners.
