I will say one more thing. I do like how the first thing the city fans throw at us, when we start on them, is that we finished as low as 8th last season and that's where we're doomed to stay. And don't get me wrong I won't be happy if that does happen again. I think we'll under perform if we don't finish in the top 6.

But since when did you start looking down at eighth? Last year was the first time you finished higher than that since 1992.

The main reason you're disliked is that your fans are acting with an arrogance their team has yet to merit.

You start reaching finals and finishing in the top four (both things we've done within the last decade) and you'll earn the respect you aren't getting at the minute. But, as likely as that is to happen, it ain't happened yet.

I think its a fair and honest question. No malice involved. I just want to know aside from POP etc, why he really came on here...

Gary???

I have no problem with eighth mate. The problem is all i've heard since reading this forum is how we are a small club and always will be, but the fact we finished higher in the league last year is massively ignored and if I do bring it up the excuses flow.

As i've said plenty of times, Everton have the quality to finish top 6 every year but if we're really going to laugh at City you can't just paper over the fact we had a more succesful season last year!

I'm starting to wonder myself mate. Initially I wanted to find out why we are so despised by evertonians. I've tried to defend my club fairly without attacking everton but not having much luck eh? You can only debate for so long before you have to question where the bullshit is coming from.

Yeah, agreed you did.

I don't think it will happen again this year though and thats because of those excuses you're sick of hearing about. I think a lot of us Evertonians have mentally written off that year as an under performance due to bad injuries and a bad pre season etc. In the same way you wrote off finishing tenth a few years backs as the first year of the rebuilding project. Neither excuses the bad year, of course, but the reason why we put less emphasis on that then on our performance against you in the spring, is we think (and hope certainly) the latter is closer to the real us and how we'll play next year.

No telling if thats true, mind, but thats our general feeling as biased optimistic fans. Which is why we paper over that mentally. We don't consider ourselves to be the eighth best team in the league with a fit squad.

Yeh the reason I personally dislike Moyes is the way he was the first one to go to the press with the Lescott saga so he could publicly declare Lescott was not for sale, then blamed us when it carried on in the public eye. He called us classless but ironically he started the whole thing and had just got back from poaching that Luke Garbutt lad from Leeds Utd. Do as I say, not as I do came to mind.

HE STARTED THE WHOLE THING? F U C K OFF BACK TO BLUEMOON.

WHAT STARTED IT WAS THE NEW POSH KID ON THE BLOCK, WITH ITS DIRTY OIL MONEY, GOING ROUND TRYING TO BUY ITSELF A DECENT FOOTBALL TEAM; STARTING WITH ONE OF OUR PLAYERS.

WHAT STARTED IT WAS YOU TAPPING UP LESCOTT BY LETTING IT BE KNOWN THROUGH HIS AGENT YOU WERE WILLING TO PAY HIM DOUBLE THE WAGES HE WAS ON.

DELUDED PRICK THINKS THAT LESCOTT, WHO UNDER MOYES HAD GONE FROM A CHAMPIONSHIP CLUB TO PLAYING IN THE PREMIER LEAGUE AND GETTING ENGLAND CAPS, SUDDENLY WOKE UP ONE DAY WITH A YEARNING PASSION TO PLAY FOR MAN CITY, WHO HAVEN'T WON A CUP IN MOST PEOPLES LIFE TIME.

HE WOKE UP WITH A BURNING PASSION TO GET DOUBLE THE WAGES. ( hope the mercenary prick continues to flounder).

the hate directed at man city is probly the regular run of the mill stuff as in any walk of life - you have become a threat plus the ante was upped coz of the lescott thing - dialogue begins and it takes on a life of its own, usually full of bile.

Forums for each club are mostly the same really. We've seen how we're perceived on other sites no doubt. It's not everyone, but that's always gonna happen really, whether it be good or bad. It's just internet chat. In one way I'd really like to see someone like City win something and break the Chelsea / Man Utd cycle. But in another way, I'd REALLY prefer it to be someone else =)

We think we're the best club in the World. I certainly do, but we've won one FA Cup in my time of supporting Everton really, so that doesn't really work perhaps, but everyone is gonna defend their own club.

I wouldn't worry mate. Saying you hate Moyes probably won't help you here though, ha.

***Off to Bluemoon or whatever it is to say I hate Mancini***

Here's my take on the situation, for what it's worth.

Man City: Before the sheiks. No one had a problem with them. You can empathise with their past plights of going up and down, and lack of recent success. And we can certainly understand being overshadowed in your own city.

Man City: After the Sheiks. The only fans who don't have a problem with them, are the Chelsea fans. Thing is though, people are hating on the effect and not the cause. The cause of this problem, which is ruining football, is these bored billionaires. It ruins the fairness of the game. However, city fans had no say in whether or not their club was taken over. And given the same circumstances most Evertonians would be over the moon. So, initially, I didn't have a problem with city fans. They'd had a [Poor language removed] time, now they had cause for optimism. However, their billionaires/managers are beyond ridiculous. Buying everyone with a high reputation, for even more than they're worth. If I was a city fan, I'd be pissed off at the way things were being handled. Pissing away money -- I mean, making Yaya Toure the highest paid player in the league (by a good margin) really sums it up.

Thing is, I don't have a problem with someone because they're a city fan. I do have a problem with these city fans think all of sudden they're the biggest team in the world. They think their club has earned respect, because the sheik's dart landed on them. When they win things, they will be respected more -- but with an asterix: *paid for by the sheik. And as much as they try and argue against this, it's a fact.

If I was a city fan, or if Everton got investment of this magnitude, I'd want us to use the cash sparingly. Not bully clubs into selling their best players. Not pay nearly £20 million for someone who will be free within 6 months. Not buying people based on reputation alone. With hindsight; Chelsea did it right. They bought top notch players, but they developed them further; Essien, Drogba etc. I'd never even heard of those two before they joined Chelsea. They used their finances intelligently. It's easier to respect that. Don't get me wrong, I hate a lot of Chelsea fans and I hate their smug board of execs, but they did it right.

So, in summary (well done if you've made it this far), I don't mind city fans -- I give them a chance. Thing is, most of them seem as arrogant as Gary Cook (the man, not the guy on here) these days. They're under the notion than money = instant respect, pride and a 'holier than thou' attitude. It does not lads, it does not.

Ok, City are not despised by ALL evertonians.

Evertonians care about Everton more than anyone else.

You are not trying to defend your club, you are tyring to defend their 'business',

No-one can logically despise city because they play in blue, are from Manchester, or for what they have won in previous years. These things are respected by good fans, of which there are lots of on here.

If you think you will stand any chance of defending city's business dealings then you should give up now.

But the main reason most on here are not as welcoming as you'd hope is because I have not heard one single city fan turn round and say...
"well, this could go either way, i just don't want to see my football club which i love dissapear, it would be lovely to win some stuff, and I know our board are a bit shifty, but we as fans just love the club, the fans, and the way of life...always have and always will.."

A bit of modestly wouldn't go amiss.

Just look at all the Kenwrong / Kenright posts on here. Not one city fan is actually concerned about their board. It borders on lunacy Gary.

Do you understand where i'm coming from?

Luke Garbutt signed for us out of Leeds academy in the same way that the likes of Abdisalam Ibrahim signed to your academy when they were parts of other teams youth setup. He was a uncontracted youth player who was offered a deal by the club. The compensation was because Leeds offered him a contract too and he was a product of their adademy not because we acted improperly.

You can agree or disagree with the practice poaching youth players (I'm not too fond of it myself). But it's not the same thing as the Lescott saga.

where does this `you will be respected more when you`ve won something` come from - i just think - you basteds- i wanted to win that
