Leandro Rodriguez’s dentist dad stopped him joining Everton earlier in his career.
The Uruguayan striker has been included in the Blues first team squad for the first time for their Capital One Cup tie at Reading after netting twice in as many outings for the Under-21s.
However, Goodison scouts had spotted the 22-year-old earlier in his career only for his father to block a move to Europe.

Manager Roberto Martinez reveals: “Leandro is a very interesting story because his dad was a footballer as well but he became a dentist and all his life has been a dentist.
“His son wanted to play football, but he very was strong with Leandro and didn’t want him to play professional football and sent him to university to do a degree.
“We were aware of Leandro’s goalscoring ability very early. But then he wasn’t playing for the first team which we thought was very strange.
“Leandro’s father then agreed to give him a year that he could just concentrate at football and that’s when he really kicked on.”

That right there is a philosophy (or a consistent system of decision making). And one I wholly agree with. Bobby will rise or fall by this "philosophy" but he has certainly "walked the walk" on this position (young players who show promise will be given a chance to prove themselves and they won't disappear after one mistake).
