The nativity on the Leeds forum is wild. They're a good team, they have a good coach and have talented attacking players. But comments such as us 'being embarrassing' for us focusing on defence (whilst in a winning position) and time wasting (again, whilst in a winning position) shows that their priorities are gone. Defence is the foundation of any team - our main strength lay in our defensive players and naturally our set up is such to utilise those strengths. Did we get saved at times by an outstanding goalkeeping display? Yes. Were we also denied a stonewall handball penalty? Yes. Suggestions of being lucky are way off the mark. We were denied the golden chance to go 1-3 up.
I lived in Leeds for a few years and was thrilled when they were promoted so have no ill feeling towards them as a team or city, but it's so annoying when defensive football is labelled as 'bad' or the 'wrong style' just because it worked.
Bookmarked for checking in during next December ;)

I'm not too worried about what the millennial hipster Leeds fans think about our football philosophy vs theirs... I'm looking forward to taking their best player in the summer and then watching their slow, agonising slide into relegation. It will be a shame for their older, more reasonable fans though.

I look forward to either looking like a total melt or a prophet

A very young Rooney scored the winner the last time we won there, and that was the first time in decades at the time
Wasn't that also the last time we played there?

A lot is being made of this barren run of ours at Elland Road, but it seems to me to be a bit misleading to refer to the number of years since we last won there: they haven't been in the same division as us for what, the last two decades (barring last year)?

Nah, last time we played there was 2012 League Cup, we lost.

Last time in the league was 03-04, Rooney scored, finished 1-1.

We'd won 3 times there in 45 league games before last night. We have a genuinely abysmal record there even though it's been such a long run.

The annoying thing about this Leeds side is the praise they think they’re entitled to for being entertaining to watch. I used to live and work in Leeds quite a lot of mates who are Leeds fans. They’ve come up and the way they play has won them quite a few games against weaker sides, and fair play I do like watching their games, but if I was a Leeds fan I’d be thinking they could get top half if they approached some games a bit more disciplined. Try telling them Bielsa wasn’t the third best manager in the world last season and see what happens hahah

They should have been absolutely slaughtered for the performance they threw in at Old Trafford in the biggest game of their season.

Just rewatched MotD and a couple of things jumped out at me:

1) The first goal began with Richarlison winning the ball back in our half. He's still getting work done all over the pitch, even if the goals aren't coming at the moment.
2) Digne did well to get the cross in, but it wasn't a particularly great cross - their defence just didn't attack the ball at all. Shambolic defending, in fact.
3) Olsen's positioning seems generally more "correct" than Pickford's. He stopped a couple of deflected shots simply because he was well-positioned to react in the first place.
4) We scored from our first corner. I wonder to what extent other teams try to avoid conceding corners to us? It seems like our ratio of goals scored from corners is quite good.
5) Doucoure is doing an incredible job and will be even better with Allan back in alongside him.
6) Godfrey. Just Godfrey.
7) Doucoure's interception in the dying minutes leading to the three on two: if Doucoure had held the ball a split-second longer he could have played Sigurdsson into the space that opened up as DCL made his run. Shame he didn't spot it, but fair play to all three of them for breaking so quickly. I was surprised to see Sigurdsson keep up with Doucoure at that point.

More generally, Ancelotti is doing a good job of cajoling improved performances out of several of the squad. Gomes last night being the most recent example.

Oh God, I remember that game. Thanks. Took me a good three years to forget it in the first place.

Three wins in forty-five league fixtures is pretty dire. Makes last night's result all the more delicious.

Looking back at the game, subbing Richie with Keane was a good move but have to say bringing Davies not good for me s/b IMO Nkounkou or Virginia. Bringing King on for 15 minutes was worthwhile but did he contribute much in that time? Not sure.

100% - they got praise on Sky for ‘sticking to their attacking principles’ and ‘not showing United any respect’ but you can’t help feel that if they were even just a little bit pragmatic the result would have been more favourable. Can’t imagine too many Leeds fans cared about principles after getting smacked up by the old enemy
Why the media were praising a 6-2 defeat is criminal

One thing I will say about Leeds is that they will get found out. Their attacking prowess comes from balls to the wall pushing everybody forward Meaning they commit far too much. Teams will quite rapidly work out to pump it in the channels or in behind and that will be that. Remember what happened to Poch’s Spurs when they played that high line with everybody forward?
