I think that there has long been a misconception of how our motto should be interpreted.
It cannot mean that we can only expect that only the very best to play for us. Very nice if true but seems foolish and arrogant in the extreme and has not often been the case apart from the all too rare exceptional seasons. For those years we have indeed been very lucky to see the best of the best.
Currently and at least since we've had the Premier League - what we can and should all expect is that every one connected to our glorious club - from owners, board, manager, staff, coaches, players - give the very best that they have to give - all the time.
Then the motto makes sense and is truly inspirational and aspirational.
In this day and age no team has a divine right to only have the best players - but what we can demand is that whatever they have - they give their all.
It's more of an identity and pride for being associated with our club than an unearned entitlement.
I think Lampard shows many of these traits and from some of his signings it's clear his values extend to his players.
I'm quite confident he will build a top side to compete if he is allowed time.

Unbeaten in four, two big road draws back to back in the PL. Those are games we outright lose last season. Despite not having a win in the PL yet, I'm feeling pretty good about our prospects. Once we get our transfer business finished and hopefully recover from the injury bug, we should start winning some games.

Going forward wd can add Maupay and Gueye to the squad which solves a lot problems.
We will have DCL back soon and Doucoure, Godfrey, Mina, Holgate and Townsend will give significant depth when they return.
It seems we are also still looking for another forward, possibly Chukwueze?
The squad will be far more balanced and carry far more threat.

I’m happiest that we played with some snide. Came right out playing their own game with aggressive pressing, I loved the chipping chirping and elbowing and time wasting. Leeds were frustrated.
Unfortunately couldn’t sustain for 90 minutes against deeper squad in very hostile park. Still had 3 chances in the second half that could or should have been goals - Gray which should not have been flagged and was a tidy finish, Paterson who’s got to do better, and Onana getting into the loose ball in the box and bouncing it off that slab of beef Scandinavian dude- for all of Leeds’ pressure and possession we had the more dangerous opportunities.
