Think you have to be more of an athlete nowadays imo. I bow down to your superior knowledge or sarcastic comments though
Valid question mate

Why is it considered harder to win now than in the days of 42 games a season, playing on boggy pitches or snow with leather balls, none breathable kit, heavier boots and no international breaks and mid season holidays.......

Nottingham forest not only won the title with a bunch of cowboys they also conquered Europe two years on the bounce......

Honestly?

Because back then the budget of the best team was about 120% of the budget of a division 2 team. If liverpool wanted a player from scunthopre they could offer him an extra 10% raise.

Now the budget of the top teams is about 500% what the budgets of the diviison 2 teams are. Chelsea can offer a player from doncaster 8 times what doncaster can.

In the 1950s, Tom Finney and Johnny Haynes stayed their entire career with preston and fulham, these days that doesn't happen. There is a reason why leicester have vardy and mahrez, who were playing semi profesisonal football and nobody wanted while newly promoted forest could go out and buy the england first choice goalkeeper.

Wasnt "easier" in that way, but the differences between clubs in terms of finance back then was way less than it is now. And also, pretty much every side had a squad of players from the UK.

edit. Oh, what AF says.

So Man United won the title in 1992-93 because they were rich then?
