No Butt,Neville,Irwin,Scholes etc......probably one of the cheapest actually
Neville never played a single game in 92-93 nor did scholes or butt.
And Irwin cost 600,000.

I believe that season saw debuts for Neville butt and so onNeville never played a single game in 92-93 nor did scholes or butt.

Giggs played a lot more than that I'm afraidAgain giggs played like 5 games in 1992-93. Don't fall for the hype. The team that won them their first league was one man u had bought. The kids came later.
And man u had the great advantage that when the kids did come through they could buy them the best wages in the league.
When Rooney came through for us we couldn't pay him what man u could so he left. They could keep giggs and schoes because they were paying the best wages of anyone throughout the 80s and 90s.

There was something on the Guardian asking just that, last week. Go look for The Knowledge. The only comparison I'm hearing is Forest from the Clough years. Maybe I'm just biased but I think it's harder to win the league nowadays.
I'd be interested to know if 5000/1 is the biggest price ever for a sporting achievement (thats won)
Yeah but if you go back to the 70s and 80s there was no massive fees paid out,one or two in the 1mYeah just looked it up. Scholes, beckham and neville played no league games at all, butt made one subs appearnce but giggs played 41 times, so fair enough.
My point was always about wages rather than transfer fees, though.

Montpellier was just about as shocking as Leicester, and there was one in Turkey where a mid/lower league table won it a few years ago. Fairly sure absolutely no one expected Atletico to actually win their first title 2 (?) years ago as well. Denmark winning the Euro's after failing to qualify is also a thing, as is Greece being chosen as the outsider for even exiting the groups, but managing to win the tournament.
Remember when Chelsea were failing miserably in the league, so they got Di Matteo in, who managed to win the CL against all odds?
Sports overall: I heard last year around the Grand National that there'd been a horserace in the mid 90s where the jockey was at something ridiculous like 25000/1 and managed to win it, I think that's slightly more shocking. Loads of olympic sports have random champions nowadays as well, it's great fun and variety imo.
Loads of near-wins as well (as, sadly, you're still not as nailed on for it tbh), so...

But players wanted to play for rs or Man U or even arsenal,so forest winning the title was as Roberto would say phenomenal
