Have you seen Rooney in that league?

Baines could play pretty much any position in an MLS team and be their best player.

Hardly. Rooney was great, I see him all the time. My guess is that he’ll take a step back this year when he actually has to travel and play in the heat.

The only older player MLS teams have been buying are the occasional player that has some sort of reputation that can help sell tickets. Baines is also too slow to play LB in the league. He’d probably have to change positions.

Linked in the summer. Baines would walk that league.

Baines was doing well until he got injured and should not have started last week.
If he had not played at all against Wolves people would now be bemoaning his absence in that game.

If fit, and if prepared to take a low salary then why not give him another twelve months and at the same time give Robinson or one of our better young lads the chance to develop rather than splashing out a lot of money on an understudy for Digne.
