That's not even true on this forum.

On the substantive issue: he's 56 years old and he's holding out for better terms from Everton.

Absolute joke they indulge this feller. He's already pulled in about £30M in wages from Everton.

Fair do's, but you have to admit he's in good shape for a guy of 56.

I don't think its about money, yeah, I mean its ALWAYS about money, but he's 35, I personally think he's weighing up whether he's had enough.

Definitely, if we qualify for Europe he may think there's plenty of game time there for him. If he wants to finish his career doing something else then i think a lot of us will totally understand. Shame he's never won anything here.

He’s been a very good servant to the club. He was, for a while, arguably the best left back in the league. He wasn’t in Wilson’s class, but, he was one of the best left backs I’ve seen here in nearly 60 years watching the blues.

If he signs for another year he won’t let anyone down, if he doesn’t, then, I for one, wish him all the best for his future.

As others have said, good servant and a likeable lad too. I’m not too enthusiastic about another year here playing tho unless there is a lad coming from the youth team ready soon to step up or someone younger than Digne to come in to compete and Baines can be player/coach role ready to come in if injuries are many.

He must be weighing up his options. The extra extension being signed but not next season being signed suggests there are differences in the contract. I maybe wrong (probably am) I am sure he said he wasn't really interested in coaching? A lot of speculation about him going to the coaching staff.

The fact he is considering whether to accept the 1 year contract is interesting

he must think at 35 he may be able to play first team football for a lower prem league side like Brighton or Southampton or go abroad to America or maybe go into the championship

at the same time he is so injury prone that to sit on the bench for 95% of next season and literally earn money for doing nothing must be tempting
It'd be odd to see him leave the North West now, considering he turned down Bayern Munich in his prime.

Unless City or United have offered him the sort of deal that they usually reserve for ancient goalkeepers, my guess is that he's going to call it a day.

He’s a player that as a supporter base we held up as someone we were proud of for a long time. By that I mean we knew that he was in the argument for best LB in the league possibly the world in his prime and understood what it meant to play for Everton.

If he’s already made the decision to move on which I think he has. Good luck too him and it’s a shame we as supporters won’t have the chance to give him a proper farewell.

...interesting, I think he looks in terrific condition and he feels he’s good enough to play for a season or two. I get the impression Ancelotti likes him a lot but Baines is considering offers from elsewhere.

Do we have anyone to replace him from the u23s?
