The revisionism about that United approach is ridiculous. United and Moyes essentially wanted Baines as a freebie to sign Fellaini, there was no way the club was going to go for that

I'll be dead sad if he goes. We do have a habbit of hanging onto players for too long but Baines has got another season in him as a back up LB to cover the cups and injuries. He does deserve more than that as a player, couldnt blame him if he leaves to pursue that. He has been a top notch servant to this club. Great player, great bloke, will be missed.

Tomorrow will be Baines' last day as an Everton player.

He was very good for a period - yes.
He was a good defender - no.
He was a player a first team squad place was wasted on for the last 3 seasons at least - yes.
He was worth the £47M he's pocketed since 2007 - no.

Wow

I don't want to do it, again, D but in your own words:

Baines is fast becoming an Everton legend, imo. Usually you have to win stuff (or in Duncan's case terrorize and flatten people) to get that accolade. Baines is one of the best full backs to pull on the Royal Blue and he's got decency in buckets it appears.

That was uncomfortable to read.

Baines was in a bind: local, and desperate to keep his reputation as a loyal servant. He didn't push for the move but he certainly didn't need any excuse to carve up behind the scenes the manager he blamed for blocking his United move. His briefing the media against the manager was shameful. Martinez never deserved that and he manipulated the fans against him.

Unforgivable even for a legend that is, and he will never be one of those.
Didn't Southall get a sulk on when he couldn't get a move ? I'd say he's an Everton legend . In my opinion I'd say Baines was our most consistent player for about half a decade . I'd call him a legend in these rather dire times .

We lost 5-1 Orly and I had already booked my flight and hotel for a fantastic European night at Goodison. I went anyway but it remains a cautionary tale.

Boo.

? That's the Bucharesti game buddy under Moyes. For kyiv we won 2-1 at home and then smashed 5-2 in the away

Some would say hes been our best value for money signing in our history.
