Leighton Baines

Oh come on.

Thats just silly and you know it, its like you have re-written history.

In his first Season he struggled for form due to a long list of Hamstring injuries, also Jags and Yobo where playing very well and Lescott was like the Brummie Cafu on the left.

He got his chance and he took it, but to say Moyes wasnt EVER gonna play him after spunking 6m on his is beyond silly mate.

I know you hate Moyes, I get that, honestly everybody who hates Moyes I can see the reasons, but "you" have enough REAL stuff to beat him with, lets not just beat him for the sake of beating.

But he's the best left back in the world and only got a run in our team because of injuries, thats is undisputable.

Plus with what Sheedy said means we very nearly missed out on seeing how good Baines actually was.

Same with Arteta to centre mid, Coleman to right mid, Heitinga to centre defence, Fellaini to defensive mid. Moves only made which benefitted the team and the player at the time only made due to Moyes hand being forced because of injuries or him finally waking up to what was clear to everyone else months previous.

If Yobo hadn't of been injured exactly when would Lescott of moved to centre defense after doing well at Left back and keeping baines out of the team? More than likely after the best left back in the world got fed up waiting and went off to Sunderland.

You have a point...just think it doesn't relate to Baines.

Our defence was mega and we had a full back scoring goals. He just didn't get a sniff.

Yes mate, bizarre as it sounds that's 100% genuine . When I used to post I'd post rumours but occasionally I'd be able to post a direct quote from someone present in the conversation and that is one of those quotes. I'm not looking to derail a topic merely add to the debate

messi's well short

I'm not saying he should of definitly been in the team back then. Like you say we were doing very well at the back and there wasn't any need to change things.

But its still an example of Moyes signing a player, him not getting a decent run in the side in his best position until injuries happen, then Moyes gets forced to play him and we see the best of the player.

As I said, he was out of form and injury prone.

Im fairly sure when Fellaini was playing like a left footed donkey Moyes would have gladly taken the money at that time.

Hindsight is a wonderful thing tho.

I just recall Baines looking very average in his first Season and Jags, Yobo and Lescott earning their places.

Its not as if they stank and Moyes kept with them, he aint Cahill mate.

I dont mean to be the grim reaper, but rumours going round Moyes is set to move for Stephen Ward.

He is a bad, bad defender - A left sided hibbert, if not worse than hibbert

Would be a bad move IMO, on the positive Nik would have a hair role model.

Ward would be a shocking signing. Especially when the likes of Arthur Boka and Christian Pander are available on frees.
