Just my opinion, but we will not accept players in exchange. If Baines gets sold, it will be for money alone, or not at all.
Moyes has never, in 10 years+ at Everton, ever taken players in exchange for any player he has sold.
The reasons for this are two-fold: 1) Players are generally only sold at Everton to raise cash; and 2) Moyes is absolutely fastidious about who he signs and why. He doesn't just take people because they are on offer. He watches players he wants 10/15/20 separate times, builds up dossiers on them, investigates their characters and how they'll fit into the team. Unless there are some United players he really fancies, and has heavily scouted, I can't see this at all. And with our wage ceiling, it would very likely mean any United players taking a wage cut to join us. Which, if they are told they are surplus to requirements at United, will probably have the pick of a bunch of clubs, all of whom would be able to offer better terms. Just as a further example, it's come out that Naismith was offered more money to move elsewhere, but chose Everton because of the pull of Jelavic & Weir. We just don't offer the big enough wages.

There's also Baines' age (27, 28 this December), and that United haven't bought a player aged 27 or older since Berbatov. They have a clear policy of signing younger players with huge resale value.
Completely hypothetical ofcourse but say we could take 2 players from united:
Ezekiel Fryers - young exciting left back who looks like his contract negotiations have broken down
Nick Powell on loan - forward signed from crewe who we where after.
No doubt we'll ask for Park and Macheda though

I would rather have Park and Macheda than Fryers and Powell on loan. But I would rather have no one out of Uniteds team and just the cash so Moyes can spend it on who he wants.
