In the last 30 years apart maybe from Big Nev, Ratcliffe and Hibbert who
else has provided 10 years of loyal service to the club as a player?
That in my book makes him an Everton legend.

As for the Xavi comment, yes it was probably a joke but Ossie is still a current full England International whilst Barkley struggles for the U20's. Ossie is needed at Everton and yes Barkley will come through but lets support our boys instead of slating them

Agreed.

Osman will win us more points this season than will Barkley.

If they played the same amount of games, I personally think Ross would create more chances and score more goals.

They would both be utterly shocking at defending tho.

Ross takes more chances and IMO has a better range of passing, he can also shoot, not roll shots along the floor.

This irritates the life out of me, if he could shoot properly he'd easily be in double figures each season, gets into so many decent positions but just wastes it.

Don't agree.

If I was boss, starting this season with a No.10 I'd go for Barkley with osman on the bench. Bit of a gamble and it may not pay off at which point you'd have osman chewing at the bit. It may be a masterstroke tho if he fulfils his potential. If he does Barkley would score more and create more than osman!

I like osman btw, and think he'll still have an important role. But IMO from the bench/rotation.

It's a strange one, that's for sure, he's scored some absolute stonkers for us over the years...City, Stoke, Watford, Larissa off the top of my head.

You're guaranteed a Osman pea-roller once a game, though.

The reason why Osman hasn't got more caps or had bigger clubs in for him is he's inconsistent.

On his day he's a better footballer than most in this league. Just that it's his day maybe one in three. He also has purple patches, like the start of last season, and he has anonymous periods, like the end.

Still a good player and he's very useful coming off the bench too. I think by the end of this season Barkley will have reduced Leon to a bit part player.

How many goals has Barkley scored though? Not that he has had that much of a chance of course...

He scored 4 for Sheff Wed in 13 games, also a number of goals for the U21s, granted, its a lower standard, but I think if we played him in the correct postion and gave him a free role he would shine.

Of course, I could be very wrong.

Pretty much nailed it there imo Ste

You are probably (hopefully) right.

Maybe with a new team outlook Osman will bang in a few more though too. I think a 50/50 amount of playing time for them both this season would be ideal really.

Im not totally dissmissing Osman, hes a VERY talented player, I just feel he goes missing at times, thats not to say he hasnt been a cracking player over the years and he clearly still has something to offer, but like most players, whens hes bad, hes very, very bad.

Just had to go and watch that Larissa goal, was a thing of beauty, not just the finish either.

Lets not forget the 4 he scored for sheff Wed came from playing a natural CM role, not as a No.10. Infact up until recently he hasn't been playing a No.10 role for England or our U21's or our snr team!

He's not had any sort of run of games in this posistion, yet nearly had a Rooney moment vs arsenal, and IMO has looked immensely dangerous in Pre-season in the ltd mins he's had.

Be excited about this kid....Be very excited!

..I'm not exited at all. The comparison with Rooney is not worth pursuing. Rooney was brilliant and progressive from the off. I think he might haer by-passed the U21s and was a regular as a teen. Barklay had a lot of hype but was soon dropped from a weak U21 squad and has not been back since. Don't compare with Rooney, I'm afraid they are on different planets.
