He was horrendous in the first half, him and Barry were like night and day in the middle. He improved a bit in the second half when it got a bit stretched, but he really needs benching tbh.

That shot he hit late on when he was under no pressure was pathetic.

Much better 2nd half

He linked up very well with Naismith in the second half. What I noticed was that we started playing the direct diagonal ball directly to Naismith to battle with in the air, especially when Jelavic went off. Osman benefited as he stepped forward up the pitch for the loose balls and had players in closer vicinity to play off.

First half he was horrifying though!

Yeah, he's still got the feet to be useful near the opponents goal.

But he doesn't have the legs to be much better than average at best near our goal.

Vast majority of posters agreeing on Osman being past his prime, and struggling with the pace and physicality of the game. You enjoy your subjective stats pal, and have fun in the minority.

Well if you read my previous historic posts, I predicted osman would be the first sacrifice of Martinez regime before a ball was kicked this season.

Experienced squad player does his job and helps us overturn a very good Chelsea side.
How can anyone still say that Ossie doesn't have a big role to play this season?

Remind me how many times Moyes managed to beat Mourinho?

I think he could do with a little break. But oddly, he is quite a Martinez type player. Quite experienced, creative, quick feet and consistent. We will see him a fair amount this season, as we change style

I still thought he was very poor off the ball, and his lack of urgency allowed the likes of Mata and Hazard way too much room to dictate the play there for a while.

That's not to say he didn't have a couple of nice touches, and his second half was an improvement. I'd have McCarthy starting against West Ham though.
